No where near as good as the original!

No where near the laughs the first instalment delivered. the only goodthing about this sequel is that they brought back Sean Hayes character"Tinkles" SPOILER FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT CARE Don't READ FURTHER.. Yepand looks like there is going to be a third instalment folks you allhave seen how silence of the lambs ended well. meet Mr. tinkles whojust might have a friend for dinner. In this instalment James Marsdenprovides the vocals for the main character, a German Sheppard policedog who is washed up named Diggs. Digg's partner (Chris Odonnell)cannot keep covering up Digg's blunders so until he can figure how toget his shield back Digg's must remain in the city pound. Butch, yesone of the returning heroes from Cats And Dogs 1 but voiced this timeby Nick Nolte (guess Alec Baldwin wanted nothing to do with the sequel)gets advised by returning hero #2 Lou (also voiced by another actor)that he wants Diggs to join up with them to fight the new feline threatto canine and human kind Kitty Galore (voiced by Bette Midler). thistime around the villain has come across a sound so severe that whendogs here it they will go crazy and attack their owners, thereforeremoving all dogs as pets due to safety concerns. As to which if thisdastardly plan succeeds next up on the chopping block will be thehumans. Cats and dogs this time around have to join forces to removethe world of Kitty Galore the feline threat. My kids loved this as muchas the first instalment however i did not..but then again these movieswere made for the kids i guess.....

Fast Delivery!!

This review is from: Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (DVD) I did not expect to get my purchase as quick as I did, but it arrived in almost half of the time which was great. I bought it for a Christmas present fo my son, so we haven't watched it yet, but it came completely sealed and everything just like you would buy it off the store shelf, so I am not anticipating any problems. A plus I was able to purchase it from an animal rights place, which made it all the better! Definately happy with the purchase.

Maybe, a Greek tragedy

Sad, beautiful, subtle, it is a strange poem about limits of love andshadows of duty. A film about sacrifice and emotions of worlds andsearches. A picture of the last century, very old, small, kitten's cry.The dogs and their desire. Confuse, heavy, cold. Signs of resignationand pieces of innocent beauty. Splendid images and a delicate emotionas nimbus of confession. A parable of lost smile. Some women and aphotographer. And a long travel to America. A new world, a new life anda love without bones. A Greek tragedy. Or a story of every day in aland of nobody. It is not important. The pain, the dreams, theillusions are the same. The fuzzy faces and looks are pieces of a hugegame of existences, hopes and emotions. So, a sad, beautiful, subtlemovie.

Good Movie...

This review is from: Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (DVD) This is a good family film. My kids really like it, although, they say they like the original Cats and Dogs better. It was more expensive than what I expected to pay but the kids thought it would be a good movie. I can't say it was worth it but everyone seems pleased with the movie.

Simply atrocious

What was my excuse to go to see Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of KittyGalore to the cinema? I am always interested in seeing well donespecial effects...even if it is in deplorable movies, such as G-Forceor Transformers. In the case of Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of KittyGalore, the special effects are competent, and they are complementedwith the wonderful practical creations of Romaire Studios.Oh, and bythe way, I also have a special affection for dogs. However, nothing ofthat helped me to enjoy this atrocious and deeply tedious film. The original Cats & Dogs was not a gem of modern cinema, but it made melaugh with its ingenious parody of the spy cinema, not to mention Icould also recognize the attitudes from cats and dogs I have met duringmy life in the characters (of course I am not talking about the gadgetsand the action scenes, but about the brief moments where the authenticnature from those animals was perceived). Now, as it usually happens, the obligatory sequel looses the slight charm from the original movieand increases the level of coarse humor, and the result is anotherfamily movie where the story is replaced by noise and visual excesses.Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore is composed by tired routinesof a stupid humor which do not provoke even one smile, and theapparatus action sequences are very boring as well as irrelevant, andthey only work as a distraction on the slow way to the ending. It is amistake to expect too much from a film like this, but I always have theslight hope of finding filmmakers who do not take the family cinema asan excuse for reducing the intelligence from the screenplays to theminumum, or ignore the most basic precepts of cinematographicnarrative.Bad luck; I will keep searching. As I said on the beginning of the commentary, the good special effectsare not enough to recommend Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, because the movie is authentically horrible and hateful.I think thatthe animals from this film should have also been behind the cameras; Iam sure they would have made a much better job.

In a Decade, "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore" May Be A Religion

Films using personification are without a doubt the most unbelievableidea in the universe. Especially when featuring Cats & Dogs. But theway this film delivered...It was breathtaking! First of all, I'd liketo say that I'm a zoologist, and ever since I saw this film I've beenpondering the same question to myself: Has my dog created his ownunderground headquarters yet? I feel that in years to come humans willbow down to our fellow felines and canines. I mean if they can createjet-packs and clone each other then I'm sure they can find out a way tocure cancer, or maybe even discover some of the biggest secrets to theuniverse!!!! I've also been wondering, when are the Oscars going tofeature a "Best animal actor"? Seriously! I remember watching DunstonChecks In, and I was totally shocked when I saw that Sam (theOrangutan) didn't receive any type of reward.Furthermore, this film will make you think, it will make you smile andcry. But most importantly! It will make smile while you think ofcrying...

The only real problem is the short length

Simply put, truly the *only* problem I had with this movie is excessiveediting. Too much flesh was cut out. In fact, there are scenes in theoriginal trailer from last year that appear to have been cut ortrimmed. The cuts appear intended to make the movie more action- andhumor-oriented, with less story or character development. This was amistake. But for that I would be thrilled with the film.I saw the movie twice. The first time this was annoying because I wasexpecting more depth in the story (like the first one). The second timeI knew what to expect, and just enjoyed it for what it is. And Ilaughed a lot more that time. Enjoy it for what it is.I will definitely be getting the DVD. My hope is that it will includean expanded version with those scenes restored.

Avoid at all costs

I ended up seeing this film twice in the theaters. More on that in aminute. This film made me realize, after seeing Beverly Hills Chihuaha, andMarmaduke, that "talking animal movies" is a sign of poor poor qualityin films. They know that kids, and their parents, will be willing topay and suffer through almost anything if it has a cute wise-crackingdog or cat character. This movie sets a new standard for the worst of a genre, however. Itreally has nothing to do with the first film, and has a number of datedJames Bond based gags that just fall flat. Some great talent went intothe voices here, but those actors and actresses (I'm talking to you,Bette Midler and William Macy) should be ashamed of themselves.

A cinematic abortion

Sometimes certain movies just have this aura about them. Movie posters for these particular films are just pungent with a vile odor while trailers seem to leave the most horrid and putrid taste in your mouth and cause your face to twist and distort as if you were being put through the most despicable forms of torture. You pretty much know, it's like your knee acting up when it rains and you can basically just feel it in your bones that this movie is going to be terrible and is going to be the furthest thing from a pleasant experience. Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore is such a movie. You know you're in for some trouble when you hear a cover of Pink's "Get This Party Started" over the opening credits. It feels like it goes on forever. Let the torture begin. You see that twist on Jigsaw's infamous line, "Let the games begin," from the Saw series? You'll be begging to be put into one of Jigsaw's traps by the time this movie is over. The special effects were at their best when they were more subtle. When you could tell that real animals were used and CG was used to only add reactions to the animals or for more human-like facial expressions. But these subtle effects were few and far between, as you can imagine. The film revolves around spy dogs and undercover agent cats after all. Things get exciting, chases heat up, and effects get more extravagant. That's the thing though; you can tell you're just watching something that was created on a computer. They wouldn't be bad if the entire film was CG, but they look really artificial with the real world as their backdrop. After seeing a movie like this, you have to wonder how much some of these actors were offered to do a movie this bad. Did they actually believe in the product or were they just that desperate for a paycheck? It's got to be the latter, right? You've got Cyclops as Diggs (James Marsden), Cape Fear's Sam Bowden as Butch (Nick Nolte), Veronica Corningstone herself as Catherine (Christina Applegate), A Pimp Named Slickback as a pigeon (Katt Williams), Jack McFarland as the feline rip-off of Hannibal Lecter (Sean Hayes), Vizzini (INCONCEIVABLE!) as a calico cat (Wallace Shawn), oh, and Bette Midler as Kitty Galore. Michael Clarke Duncan shows up as an Old English Sheepdog, says a few lines, and you never see him again. Is this the first movie Chris O'Donnell has been in since Vertical Limit? It sure feels that way and it didn't seem like he could get any lower than Vertical Limit until now. Meanwhile, some guy from "Saturday Night Live" shows up (Fred Armisen) and plays with a cocker spaniel while Jack McBrayer channels Pee Wee Herman in the most handicapped of ways for some scenes that probably should have been cut in the long run. Neil Patrick Harris and Katt Williams are probably the least offensive and closest thing to actual humor in the movie, but that still isn't much of a compliment. The story is the typical cats against dogs routine with a bit of an edge; an evil cat plans to use a sound that'll be channeled through a satellite orbiting the earth to eventually drive dogs mad and turn against their owners. Since humans are also a potential target, spy dogs and undercover agent cats will have to team up (cue Scooby Doo saying, "Ruh-roh!"). The story just felt stupid in the long run, especially with all the little side plots going on. Diggs tends to do whatever he wants as a police dog and is reckless, but he learns the error of his ways by...doing nothing but that the entire movie? Then his owner can't find him even though he's practically right under his nose the entire time. Most of the material with human interaction just makes you want to stab yourself in the face with whatever you can get your hands on to keep yourself from having to sit through this monstrosity of a movie any longer. It's a lot like Barney the purple dinosaur if he was replaced with CG cats and dogs; just awful, smash-me-in-the-face-with-a-cinder-block-to-end-this-madness, cutesy, garbage.Lastly, this movie references a lot of movies you know and probably love. The down side is that it feels like sacrilege rather than a shout out to great films. There are countless references to the James Bond franchise; Paws and Kitty Galore illustrate that point fairly well. Everything from Mission: Impossible to Batman to Silence of the Lambs and Terminator. The Batman and Terminator references are low blows, but the Silence of the Lambs one is the worst mostly because it lasts longer than any of the others. Think of those terrible spoof movies like Date Movie and Epic Movie with a slight we're-trying-to-make-this-as-adorable-as-possible-by-shoving-it-down-your-throat edge.Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore is quite possibly the most painful movie watching experience I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through. Jokes are lame and corny, dialogue feels forced and overacted, popular movie references tarnish the reputation those movies made on society instead of paying homage to them, and the storyline walks a thin line between simple and ludicrous which results in a product that isn't even halfway entertaining. It'd be more appropriate to rate this movie in the amount of times you'll actually groan verbally throughout the movie's duration. It might be fun for children who haven't developed the ability to distinguish a pile of steamy excrement and something that is actually entertaining and it may be amusing to your pet since my dog seemed to enjoy it, but if you have any sort of expectations or qualifications for what a good film should be then you are going to hate this movie or you'll be smart enough to stay away from it forever.

Great introduction to Bond for kids

Took my sons aged 4 & 6 to this & they loved it. It may not be the mostentertaining movie ever for adults, but heck, it passed a morning ofthe school holidays, & that's good enough for me. Being a Bond fan, Iloved the opening credits & liked the fact that they were copying thatgenre. I confess to intermittent feelings of boredom, but have yet tosit through a kid's movie where this was not the case at some point. Itis clearly very very difficult to make a film which genuinelyentertains adults and children throughout - if they manage to make bothlaugh at some point, they are doing well in my humble opinion! I askedmy kids whether they had preferred Toy Story 3 (which has a much higherrating on IMDb) or Cats & Dogs, and they said they had liked both justthe same. Perhaps IMDb should only allow kids to review kids films!Adults, this film may not be Oscar material, but lets keep things inperspective.

Cats and Dogs Join Forces To Fight Evil Kitty Galore

For a children's film, 'Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore' ispretty much the usual generic flick. Kids would enjoy it and the adultswho watch it with them might enjoy some of it. I for one enjoyed thereferences, especially the one to 'Silence of the Lambs'. While thehuman characters are boring and clichéd, most of the cats and dogs andthe pigeon are likable. The voice casting (that includes stars likeJames Marsden, Christina Applegate, Bette Midler, Nick Nolte, SeanHayes and more) is good too. There's plenty of action and high-techgadgets (even though they are mostly nonsensical). Even though some ofthe jokes made me laugh, the writing is very amateurish. Plot holes areabundant. This really is a movie for kids (who don't question logic orthe lack of it). It's downright forgettable but certainly not among theworst to come out that year.

Fun formula Children's Movie

I repeat: This is a CHILDREN'S MOVIE!!There's a lot of up and down votes on something that really wasn'tmeant for critically snarky 30-somethings. Get a grip! The First Movie was interesting because the concept of our pets beingpart of shadow spy organizations that stayed out of human sight was aneye-opener. Following up on the initial break-out is always an up-hillslog.This one was Okay. Crazed Cat Villain attempts to take over the worldby making all dogs go crazy so humans will put them all into kennels. Both Canine and Feline Organizations get together to prevent disaster.what follows is EASY and ENTERTAINING to a Child. . .Repeat: 'Entertaining to a Child', not someone's Little Genius whoreads the New York Times for Bedtime Stories! The references and gags put in for the accompanying adults are there toLIGHTLY ENTERTAIN us by eliciting Pun-Groans or soft snickers. They ARENOT trying to give you a Comedy Central Sidetrack. The Adult is NOT theTarget Audience here. If they did that, IT WOULD NOT BE A KID MOVIEANYMORE!Personally, I groaned at the Batman/Joker redux of Kitty Galore. Then Ismiled at the Dangerous Kitty doing the Silence of the Lambs sendup. And the rest of the time, I just sat back and enjoyed a rambunctious,Tom & Jerry style action romp simply because I wanted to be entertainedby something lighthearted. And the Pigeon was a Hoot!Simply put: A good clean Movie for Little Kids that won't put the adultto sleep. Or even if you don't have Kids, and you want something lightand silly to watch that doesn't require thought, this is an easychoice. Enough said.

Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore Review

Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore is a 2010 family/comedy filmand the sequel to the 2001 film Cats and Dogs. The film stars JamesMarsden, Nick Nolte, Christina Applegate, Katt Williams and BetteMidler. Produced on an $85 million budget, the film only grossed $12.5million on it's opening weekend (compare that to Toy Story 3 whichgrossed $110,307,189). The plot revolves around Diggs (James Marsden), a disobedient policedog who is recruited into Dog HQ and assigned on an important missionto take down the evil Kitty Galore (parody of Pussy Galore, much?) whois hell bent on enslaving dogs and humans after she was humiliated byher own cat comrades. It's up to Diggs, as well as field agent Butch(Nick Nolte), cat agent Catherine (Christina Applegate) and annoyingpigeon Seamus (Katt Williams) to stop Kitty and her evil plans.Preceding the film was a short cartoon involving Wile E. Coyote andRoad Runner titled Coyote Falls. The film made use of cel shadedanimation and was shown in 3D. It was actually very funny, and theslapstick humour was faithful to the original cartoons. My only gripewith it is that we didn't see Coyote use many crazy Acme devices. The3D in this was put to good use, and it made the cartoon a lot moreenjoyable. Now, onto the actual movie. The original Cats and Dogs, released July2001, was an entertaining movie. Sure, it had faults with characterdevelopment and poor acting, but I still find it enjoyable to this day.Sadly, this sequel will never have a lasting impact. It has severalmajor faults but one truly breaks it completely: it's not funny. Thecinema I was in wasn't very full but there were so many parts where thecharacters uttered jokes or did something incredibly stupid and nobodylaughed. I laughed at very few moments, nowhere near as much as I didin other films like Toy Story 3. The humour isn't witty or clever; itjusts consists of outdated puns or over the top slapstick. Oh, and thatpigeon. Did I mention how annoying he is? Well, he's very annoying. Hisvoice is irritating, and he babbles on non stop. There was only onemoment where he made me laugh, but for the most part he was there justto make my hatred for pigeons even stronger. The film also has, once again, problems with acting. The voice cast isdecent. James Marsden does a good job of voicing Diggs, and I reallyliked Better Midler's villainous yet comedic voice for Kitty Galore.Nick Nolte replaces Alec Baldwin from the original as Butch which Ithink was bad decision. Nick Nolte isn't bad, but his voice is sodifferent from the original Butch's so it doesn't sound right.Christian Applegate does a simple, mature voice for Catherine and KattWilliams....well, his voice role is annoying. Another replacement isNeil Patrick Harris, who voices Lou (voice by Tobey Maguire in theoriginal). His voice role is not bad, but my main grudge here is thatLou is the head of Dog HQ. Um, did the creators ever watch the endingof the last film? But, back to my point. The humans in this movie actreally stupid and idiotic. The performances are drastically silly andover the top which really irritates me. The only solid performance wasChris O'Donnell as Shane, but he was barely in it so who cares. The 3D in the movie was pretty cool. I've heard some complaints aboutthe 3D looking ugly, but I though it looked pretty decent. The actionscenes definitely benefited from it, and for the most part it was good. There was a scene involving Mr. Tinkles where he was speaking toCatherine, and when the camera was focused on Catherine you could see atransparent Mr. Tinkles speaking. Whether that was intentional or afilm error, it looks terrible. The CGI effects on the animals werereally dull. The animals were real dogs/cats etc. and their mouths wereanimated when speaking. For some reason they were barely animated fullyin this movie. Even when shouting and panicking, the animals would justsit there with a dull expression with their mouth moving. I think KittyGalore was the only one who avoided this, because she was fullyanimated most of the time. At times, the lip syncing was also terribleand the mouth movements were sluggish. Another gripe is the character development. Like the first movie, Inever really felt for the characters. Even in moments where it wasmeant to be tearful, I just sat there and watched. I honestly couldn'tcare less for the characters. The only sad moment was Kitty Galore'sbackstory, but that only made me upset because of her innocentexpression as a normal cat. I also never saw Kitty Galore as a truevillain. She never did anything truly evil that established her as awicked cat and I wasn't pleased to see her get her comeuppance. Shenever felt like a true villain to me.All in all, this movie was unfunny and poorly developed. The characterswere dull, the effects were average, the humour was completely stupidand the human acting was idiotic and over the top. If you're hoping fora good summer movie, you won't find it here. Grab some popcorn and somefriends and go see Toy Story 3 instead.I give this film 3/10.

Cats & Dogs

I cannot believe that this movie has such a low rating. It is a kid'smovie people! You have to take it for what it is, it's not meant to bea mind provoking film! I thought it was pretty funny and I enjoyed it.It's much better then the other movies for kid's that have beenreleased lately. The movie was excellent and I especially thought Mr.Tinkle's performance definitely stole the show once he was on screen. There were many scenes throughout the film that had me laughing so hardI cried. If you do not like kid's movies then don't see this- plain andsimple! But if you are like me and you want to see it just for the cutecomedy then see it. Personally I thought it was funnier then a lot ofcomedies for adults.

Great movie!

Very cute movie! We loved it. We watched the movie with the whole family and enjoyed just as much as we enjoyed the first one! Pure fun! Get this movie!

I laughed with tears

Movie for children or adults who really understand children! I am a guy, I have 33 years old and I really enjoy their world, kidsworld. The team who make this film I think they are big children too.Congratulations, with such folks the world can be change by honestpeople, slightly naive, happy and a little crazy ... as well aschildren are.I appreciate less the fact in the movie they used colorful languagesuch as: (hell, crap, stupid, etc.), but times have changed, when theporn knocking on our door, via the internet. Personally I see this ashardening.PS: Excuse my English, I are Romanian and also a happy one

Cute story for kids and young-at-heart

This was a cute story with good special effects. I took my 6 year old granddaughter and she gave it a 10. I enjoy supposed kid movies, I guess because I'm still a kid at heart (in a 60 year old creaky body). I would watch this again at home, again 'cause I like kid stuff. Go see it if you enjoy good clean kid movies and are not a young or old fuddy-duddy.
