| Storyline | Prequel to the first From Dusk Till Dawn is set in Mexico in the early 1900s which begins with the escape of Johnny Madrid, a dangerous local outlaw, from the gallows who then kidnaps his hangmans beautiful daughter, Esmeralda, with a little help from Reece, a female outlaw from the U.S. With the hangman and a local posse on their trail, Johnny meets with his gang who all rob a stagecoach which contains American author Ambrose Bierce along with newlywed couple John and Mary Newlie. As night falls, all parties coincidently seek shelter in an isolated innwhorehouse which is run by vampires led by the high priestess Quixtla who targets Esmeralda. Esmeralda is revealed to be the half-human, half-vampire princess Santanico Pandemonium, whom the vampires want as their heir in which all the humans must join forces if they are to survive the night from the vicious blood-suckers. |
We have taken some photos of "From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter".
They represent actual movie quality.
its the third one and usually there not that good but this one hanged in there i gave the first four stars to. make a great vampire series.alot of gore
I wasn't too impressed by the first two parts, but hell, once you've seentwo you might as well make it three. Not that I would've missed anything ifI skipped this one...Movie starts out as a western, and this sure is the best part. Classy, stylish shots in the desert, and it even has something of a story. But oncethey come near to that famous bar, you know it's gonna be just like thefirst two movies...Rebecca Gayheart is gorgeous and Michael Parks is great as writer AmbroseBierce, but thats about it.Only watch if you're a big fan of the series, 4/10.
Story: [C+] Flawed but worthy I gave the story a rating of C+ because the story to this movie seemed drawn out too long, I think that the attempt was admirable but it just didnât do anything for me. Acting: [B-] Fair I gave the acting a rating of B- because the acting in this movie wasnât that bad I have to admit great job on their part. I think thatâs the only thing besides the gore that kept me awake. Direction: [C] Mediocre I gave the direction of this movie a C because of the classic vampire style movie but I donât think they should have done this movie, maybe in the beginning but it was too late in the game to go back to the beginning and fail horribly. I really expected more from this movie then was presented and I was very disappointed. Visuals: [C+] Flawed but worthy The visuals of this movie was the best out of the whole movie (of course). I gave the visuals a C+ because of they classic gore that is shown throughout the movie. There is nothing like vampires ripping apart people or animals. Overall: [C-] Disappointing I gave the movie an overall rating of a C- because it didnât do anything for me, I had to fight so I wouldnât fall asleep thank god it got gory or else I wouldnât of seen the whole movie. I donât recommend you go out and see this movie you will just be disappointed I say save your money and imagine what I could have been like. Thanks for reading.
But the movie got delayed for some reason. The Santanico prequelelements and the temple connection were suggested at and added afterthe test screening I saw about a year and a half before it hit theshelves. Texas Blood Money got shot and released on video between thattime somehow. Also, the original ending (avail on the DVD) featuredAmbrose as a vamp telling the story to someone in a bar in the presentday. All and all, a competent movie that would have been well served bya few things: a bigger and better-spent budget, more creativeinvolvement by Rodriguez & Tarantino (maybe a switch on the directingand writing credits?), and most of all the single greatest asset theuneven first movie had: Cheech Marin!
Like everyone else, I wasn't to keen on the idea of From Dusk Till Dawn 2and 3 going to video, since all straight-to-video films suck. Naturally, myexpectation were very low for "The Hangman's Daughter", but upon viewing it,I was pleasantly surprised. While "Texas Blood Money" was a campy, but funTarintino-ish B-movie, this is a dead-serious atmospheric western-flick thatsuddenly turns into a vampire film in the second act (yes, like the firstFDTD).You can tell Robert Rodriguez was really involved with this one, because itis a lot like El Mariachi set in the old west. The second act isn't as goodas the first, but (despite a few silly and repetitious parts) delivers quitea few creepy moments. It's not as good as the original FDTD, but then again, not muchis.
After Watching From Dusk Till Dawn, i fell in love with the movie. Icouldn't wait till the sequels came out! I didn't even mind the fact thatthey where being released to video, because the first one was so great, theycouldnt possibly screw up! That was until i saw From Dusk Till Dawn 2: TexasBlood Money. There where only a few entertaining parts in that film, andwhen i saw a few...i truley mean it! I thought they wouldnt even release thethird installment after how horrible the second one was. But luckily theydid! Hangmans Daughter is a far superior film compared to the Texas BloodMoney. Sure this film does not surpass its original, but i will amdit for asequel it is a good film. The cinematography is amazing, and the charactersare well acted. I think the story is very entertaining, and explains thingsabout the first film, which i thought was interesting! Its just the way thisfilm shot, that makes it diffrent from the first and especially the second! And definatly as one person stated Rodriquze really did have his hands onthis film! Some of the style does remind you of his earlierwork! All in all, a good film, that doesn't surpass the first...but as a film onits own its a good film, with style!Rent it if you have some spare time! But just make sure you like From DuskTill Dawn, or you might not enjoy this film as much!
From dusk till dawn3: the hangman's daughter, is much better then it's last movie in the franchise.this movie is a prequel of from dusk till dawn 1.it starts in the time of the Pancho villa mexican revolution. The movie has a bit the same action magic then From dusk till dawn 1.Starts with awsome mexican ass kicking scenes, then turns to complete horror. But the first movie, is still kicking ass, rather then From dusk till dawn 2 and 3.If you only like action movies, don't watch this because the story turns to complete horror and massacre, just like in from dusk till dawn 1.The story is not bad, but it is almost the same thing as the first movie. This movie is ok. It is not worst then texas blood money, thats for sure!
Movie fans who saw the second From Dusk Till Dawn movie could beforgiven for avoiding this prequel. Let's face it, the sequel waspretty poor so how bad could a prequel get? Surprisingly, things takequite an upturn in content and quality thanks to some nice genreblending and more fun scenes set in a version of the main venue we sawClooney and co. visit.Directed by P.J. Pesce (from a story/screenplay by Alvaro Rodriguez),we get a standard Western movie here until roundabout the halfway markwhen it becomes something else, structurally very similar to the firstmovie. Michael Parks plays Ambrose Bierce and does a fine job. MarcoLeonardi is outlaw Johnny Madrid, Temuera Morrison is the hangman andAra Celi his titular daughter. All do a decent job and all are ablysupported by the likes of Rebecca Gayheart, Lennie Loftin, OrlandoJones and Danny Trejo. This is a big improvement over the second movie thanks to a number ofreasons but the main one is the way it feels so similar to the firstmovie while remaining quite a different prospect thanks to it's Westerntrappings. In fact, the first half has some great, stereotypicalmoments such as someone with their head in an uncomfortably tighteningnoose, a stagecoach robbery and even a barroom brawl that, unfortunately, ends up with a little bit too much blood being shed.If only "Texas Blood Money" had been better, the From Dusk Till Dawntrilogy could have been essential for fans of the particular subgenreit represents. As it stands, we get one great film, this fun outing anda bit of a stinker in the middle.See this if you like: Maverick, From Dusk Till Dawn, Tales From TheCrypt: Demon Knight.
This movie starts out like a great western movie and the it takes a wholenew direction just like the first one. This movie is almost as good as the first one and has the same kind ofstory, and actually takes place in the same bar 100 yearsearlier. The movie has like all the others, much gore and violence. One of the things that I really like in this series is the vampirebartender(Danny Keogh) which appears in all the three movie and almost allTarantinos movies. He is just so cool.I love this kind of gory vampire movies and only hope that there will bemade a "From dusk til dawn 4".
I am in agreement with most everyone else here, that following the patheticdirectoral mess that was FROM DUSK TILL DAWN 2: TEXAS BLOOD MONEY, gearingup for this was an exercise fraught with rare trepidation! That it was better was of little surprise - the AMOUNT by which it wasbetter, was staggering. Obviously very hands-on as far as Rodriguez wasconcerned, with strong comparative threads to EL MARIACHI running throughthe first half. Michael Parks, the ill-fated Texas Ranger in FDTD (theoriginal) makes for an anti-hero of sorts in this PREQUEL to the originaltale. Excellent script, terrific cinematography and way better FX elevatethis flick...not up to the lofty heights of the first, I'll be quick toadmit, but up to where it would like to be.Running a near identical dramatic thread to the original, a bunch ofdisparate mexican cowboys find themselves once again inside the TittyTwister at quite the wrong time. The film performs a 360 degree turn likeits earlier predecessor, lurching from a straight western to a vampire flickin the space of 5 minutes. Danny Trejo plays the Titty Twister's residentvampiric bartender for the third time (The ONLY cast member to appear in allthree films). In a nice twist, this flick also shows how SantanicoPandemonium came to be who and where she was in the first film - the partthen being filled by Salma Hayek.Well worth seeing.
Prequel to the FROM DUSK TILL DAWN series has an outlaw & his gang onthe run from the hangman, with the hangman's daughter aiding them intheir getaway, within time they take shelter in a bar located out inthe middle of nowhere & along with some other visitors at the bar, windup fighting the owners & some of their female guests, when it becomesalarmingly clear that they are not human. Basically a remake of theoriginal film, set in the old west, DUSK 3 is still a lot of fun & onceagain features good direction & special effects, definitely worth alook for fans of the series, especially those disappointed with thelast entry. However neither entry that followed after the originalmatched up with the first, but don't be surprised if they come up withanother sequel.***1/2 stars
This one is simple. If you saw and liked the original "From Dusk Till Dawn" then you are going to like "From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter." Even better, if you did not like "From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money," you will find this one more to your taste . In fact, you can skip the first direct to video sequel in favor of this film and not miss a thing because this second sequel is actually a prequel. The bad news is that what makes this one succeed might spell the end of the series, because, after all, how many times can you draw water from the same well? Therefore, we may well be at the end of the Aztec/Mexican Vampire Bloodbath movies."From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter" is set during the Mexican Revolution, tied to that period of history by the presence of Ambrose Bierce (Parks), American newspaper columnist, satirist, essayist, short-story writer, and novelist, an enigmatic figure who disappeared south of the border and is presumed to have died during the siege of Ojinega in January 1914. Bierce is in Mexico to bring something of great value to Pancho Villa, but he is also ill and has something of a death wish.At the other end of the spectrum is the outlaw Johnny Madrid (Marco Leonardi, "Like Water for Chocolate") who not only escapes from the hangman (Temuera Morrison, "Six Days, Seven Nights"), but the takes the hangman's sensuous daughter Esmeralda (Ara Celi) away with him. Madrid and Bierce first meet up when the outlaw's gang robs the stagecoach on which the writer is riding to join Villa (there is something to be said for having a blind man ride shotgun on a stage). But they meet again after the hold up when Bierce and a young newlywed missionary couple, Mary and John Newlie (Rebecca Gayheart and Lennie Loftin), end up that night seeking shelter at the combination bar and bordello that we recall from the first film (Danny Trejo is still behind the bar as Razor Charlie). Meanwhile, the hangman is still on the trail of his daughter. Eventually, wackiness ensues. The film returns to the essence of the original, which finds a ground of humans forced by dire circumstances to band together against a horde of bloodsucking fiends. The first time around the scene was set in a Mexican biker bar. This time around it is essentially the wild, wild west, even if it is still early in the 20th century. The movie has a touch of class with Sonia Braga as Quixtla, the proprietress of the establishment, although the Bierce character also brings some dignity and ironic wit to the proceedings. Orlando Jones even plays it essentially straight in his role as an Andalusian brush peddler in the wrong place at the wrong time. The script is by Ãlvaro RodrÃguez, based on a story he co-wrote with original director Roberto RodrÃguez. Director P.J. Pesce ("Body Waves") does not have the cinematic flair of Roberto Rodriguez, but then who does? The main thing is that he treats the first half of the film seriously as we deal with the possible romance between the outlaw and the hangman's daughter, the stagecoach robbery, and Bierce's deathwish. Then it becomes party time in the bar and all hell breaks loose. The special effects are over the top, but intentionally so; they are just part of the menu. The last half of the movie is simply a question of going along for the ride and waiting to see who makes it out of there alive. Actually, I think "From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter" might be more enjoyable than the original. It is more of a classic horror film without the "Pulp Fiction" sensibilities that writer Quentin Tarantino brought to the table the first time around (with the exception of this film's "dance number"). As always when it comes to such films, whether we are talking Tarantino or vampires, it comes down to questions of taste. Either way, this film deserved better than the fate of being direct to video.
Yes, From Dusk Till Dawn 3 is distressing. Everything about it ishorrible. E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n- g. There's not one saving grace about thismovie. I hate hate hate hate hate it. Sometimes on IMDb, ratings aren'tas high or as low as they should be. I'm panic-stricken that From DuskTill Dawn 2, which, even though it's pretty bad, is still a head andshoulders above this nightmare, gets a 3.5 and this monstrosity gets a4.7!!! Yes, I care that much about that slight difference in alreadypoor ratings. Most of you probably already expect the script to be terrible. Thisscript is extra-terrible. The main reason why is because of howincredibly unlikable Marco Leonardi's character is. No, I am not one tolook down upon movies for moral deprivation of any kind. I love a goodheist movie, con movie, hit man movie, a movie where it turns out thatthe bad guy gets away with everything, etc. Ask anybody who knows me. Iactually find every villain at least twice as interesting as any hero.I love villains. But there's a line, even still, even to someone likeme, who hardly cares. In From Dusk Till Dawn, the Gecko brothers wereno boy scouts, even counting their admirable traits. But see, there'sthe thing. There was the element of charm in these two that made uscare whether Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, and Howard Cho escapedwithout the brothers or the brothers escaped with them. We wanted themto survive. In From Dusk Till Dawn 2, the basic making of adirect-to-video bloody-bank-heist-gone-awry flick makes its charactersout to be dirty, scuzzy outlaws. Fine. They're outlaws. That's nothingto make us specifically want them to be killed by vampires for. MarcoLeonardi is possibly the nastiest main character I've ever seen wherethe audience is supposed to shrug off the incredibly nasty things hedoes. he humiliates a fan of his who wants to join his gang by hangingher, letting everyone laugh at her, and then riding off leaving her fordead. There isn't even a reason for this. This is one of a few things. There's not even a sociable bone is his body. He goes out of his way tobe mean and violent. OK, that's a villain. That's like the bad guy inthe heist movie, which is a movie where everyone is bad anyway and thevillain has to be extra-bad where there's something about them that weparticularly don't like. From Dusk Till Dawn 3 gives us one of thosepeople to care about. In all departments, this movie is agonizing. The characters are socheesy aside from Leonardi's, and it doesn't once try to be anythingmore than a movie at the level of a direct- to-video crapfest. Thesecond From Dusk Till Dawn at least showed us some style despite itsdirect-to-video status.Anyway, I hated it.
You know, I love vampires. But you know what else? They're not worthy of the treatment they've been given by the lackluster From Dusk Till Dawn series. The first installment was all right, and had the advantage of being the only movie of the three to have Quentin Tarantino's genius in the screenplay. The second installment was more of the same, nothing special. But this third installment...it is indeed worse than the other two, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't try to be different. In fact, it's not a sequel: It's a prequel. In From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter, taking place in the Mexico of the Old West, outlaw Johnny Madrid (Marco Leonardi) escapes his execution, grabs the hangman's daughter from the title (Ara Celi), and then winds up in the bar later seen in the first two, where (surprise, suprise!) vampires start jumping out and slaughtering everyone. The storyline is actually sort of interesting since it takes place in the Old West, and it introduces the bar from the first two flicks. Also, just like the first, it rapidly changes into a different movie at the halfway mark, but neither the first or second halves are any good. The first half is about the ways of Madrid, and the hangman (Temuera Morrison) trying to get his daughter Esmerelda back. It sounded promising on paper, having a western vampire movie, but it was just so dry and dull. The scene of Madrid's escape is so needlessly violent and gory that I couldn't help but holding my head at the irritating MTV-like qualities of it all. Also, the acting is of the hammiest variety, especially Morrison's. Please, never cast him in a serious film again. The second half consists of Madrid, his crew, and a few other characters (most notably the supposed "hero," Ambrose Bierce, played by Michael Parks, who played Sheriff Earl McGraw in the first From Dusk Till Dawn, as well as in a couple of other Quentin Tarantino movies) arriving at the Mexican bar, and that's when the film changes from western to gross-out horror movie. And I do mean gross.Horror movies rarely make me queasy, but excessive grossness can still make my eyes wide. The Hangman's Daughter has it all: Gruesome vampire murders, horiffic stakings, and, in the stupidest, grossest move the film takes...snake monsters and demon tentacles that pop out of the vampires' stomachs. I mean, that was just dumb, and during those times, it felt like the movie wanted to be like The Evil Dead, but it was far too dull and badly-written to be even remotely close to that film's brilliance. Also, one notable thing that's missing from this outing that the other two From Dusk Till Dawn movies had going for it is clever direction. The first had the slick look of Robert Rodriguez, and the second had the crazy angles of Scott Spiegel, but P.J. Pesce's direction just feels so stationary and sometimes adds to the music video quality that the movie holds. However, there is one admirable sequence in which Esmerelda and one of the vampires engage in a Spanish dance, when the movie switches to grainy black-and-white. That scene was really quite good, and tempts the viewers by seemingly saying: "This is what From Dusk Till Dawn 3 could've been like."
The third installment of the From Dusk Till Dawn series is much better thanthe second one. Although it is still not as good as the original. Theoriginal being a good movie as far as bad movies go.There was little character developement in this movie, and the plot was abit confused. The action sequences worked well however. Also the onlyannoying camera work in this movie was the tendency towards being overlydark as opposed to the numerous cam shots in the second one (see reviews ofFrom Dusk Till Dawn 2).Oh, there were also some plot gaps, such as how do they know to stab thevampires through the heart to kill them, when the term vampire is neverused?
Far more better than the second one. Now we all how this story got started. Cool effcts and a good story.
... The movie was awesome! I saw a screening at theCinevegas Film festival. It's interesting to me that this movie... turned out just as good if not better than the first one ... It was written by Robert Rodriguez's(Director of the first) cousin Alvaro, And you can definitely see Roberts influence. Robert also put together the story. Great movie, better than the second almost better than the first. END
This part 3 is very similar to part one. Bad guys who rob and kill innocent people get stranded into a vampire-infested bar. The female vampires are beautiful and there are a couple of scenes which contain nudity!I had also seen part 2 and that was very bad. The story was boring and was nothing like the original FDTD.
I have a problem with the whole fact of Rodriguez and Tarantino doing asequel, let alone sequels, of a highly original, totally off-the-wallmovielike From Dusk Til Dawn. But where #2, "Texas Blood Money," was a wasteoffilm, #3 "The Hangman's Daughter" is the ONLY one they should'veattempted. It tells the story of Salma Hayek's character in the first one andactuallyhas a plot, good acting, lasts just long enough and has enough content tobeentertaining and not exhausting. I also want to add that Ara Celi is aGREAT substitution for Salma cause she is just as FINE! :)The movie does suffer from some of the hokey tricks that plagued TexasBloodMoney and is campy, but that's half the appeal of these types of movies. They're not Shakespeare, they're to entertain...and bringing back MichaelParks was a stroke of genius and if you want to see how diverse an actorheis, watch this movie and the first moments of the original where he'sfeatured. If you're jonezing to revisit some old friends at the TittyTwister saloon, rent this one and TOTALLY AVOID the secondsequel.
"... includes the triumphant return of Danny Trejo. This movie really had something good going for it, but that idea was wasted. Althought, it did have some pretty sweet violence and action, but it was just not enough. They also spent way too much time on the beginning part of the story and not nearly as enough on the second act with the vampires. I was disappointed with that. And, when we finally get there, the characters kill and run around for just about twenty-five f**kin' minutes! It gave really poor effort, but I was a little satisfied with the ending. It gave a shout-out to the original. To sum it all up, in my opinion, you should go rent or even buy the first because the third isn't worth it and I haven't yet seen the second, but don't worry. I will. You'll see. You can soon read it if you'd like. In conclusion, I hope that you found this review helpful or not. I really don't care if this review was disaggreed with. At least this all didn't go to waste and went unread."
