| Storyline | Self-described as raw and extreme, the program originally began as an independent documentary television film, which was filmed by the crew in 2004 and produced by 4Reel Productions in 2006. The Sci-Fi Channel first presented 4Reels Ghost Adventures on July 25, 2007. The documentary centers on the trios investigation of alleged paranormal activity in and around Virginia City, Nevada, which the crew returned to on the fourth season of the series, and in Goldfield, Nevada in which the crew returned to in order to finish their lockdown at the Goldfield Hotel. |
We have taken some photos of "Ghost Adventures - Season Five".
They represent actual movie quality.
between wanting to laugh at and being seriously intrigued by this show. When these guys really get into this I feel like I'm watching Bill andTed's Excellent Ghost Hunting Adventure. "Dude! Dude! Did you hearthat? Whoa!". I think that a lot of what goes on here is them (inparticular Zac) reacting to their environment. Also the creativeediting that is done afterward emphasizes a great deal. Despite that, there are moments when I feel they are actually making contact with theother side. Since I can't be sure that anything is real here, I can only judge thison entertainment value. For that I can say it is truly entertaining. With the music, editing, and graphics used it's truly an awesome ridethrough the paranormal.
Hey, I've been a regular viewer for a few years. They don't usually getany compelling evidence of ghosts, but I always tune in every week tosee if this is one of the few times they will.Recently, I thought it was pretty bad when they heard a slight blip ontheir ghost radio and made it out to be Johnny Cash saying, "I do".Even worse when they took it in for voice analysis and LO AND BEHOLD itwas an exact match of Johnny Cash's recorded voice! stupid, or justplaying the viewers for stupidBut this latest episode at the Riviera Hotel with aging burnt outrocker Vince Neil, and his gaggle of groupies was really pathetic.Maybe this show has "jumped the shark".
If you watch this show and actually believe the s#!t they shovel intoyour brains, I feel sorry for you. First of all, ghosts are not real.Second, these "dude-bros" don't care about actual paranormal activitywhatsoever. Can you not sense the sarcasm in their voices? This is justa money making scheme and it's foolish fans of this garbage that helpthem continue to produce their waste. The only reason I find this showentertaining is because of it's comedic value. How often do you havefrat daddies toting around "paramormal equipment" and sharing their"knowledge" of ghosts? How do they run in those birkenstocks? Why arethey running? And from what? I wonder if they get paid in kegs ofNatural Delight.
The original documentary Ghost Adventures is much more entertaining andmore interesting than the TV series on the Travel Channel. The TV showis tedious, overly dramatic and difficult to follow through the wholehour. Because this a documentary follows more of the documentary makersmore than the subject matter is not good. The guys involved are toomelodramatic for anyone to take this show with serious consideration asa level of entertainment or even want to believe what they are doing isvalid. The investigative concept is the right one to take, but not inthe direction they are taking it. It's like Most Haunted, but at leaston that show they are honestly fake right up front.
I personally don't care much for this show or how they do thereinvestigations, every show they claim they have evidence of paranormalactivity. Anyone with half of a brain knows that when we do theinvestigation's there are going to be plenty of times were we will comeup empty handed. I think (And I have had plenty of other people I knowthat feel the same) gives paranormal field a bad name. Zak (Leadinvestigator) Will be saying to the spirits "I'm not afraid of you!""Your a coward" and other things trying to get a reaction from thespirit, then every little sound he goes "Did you hear that?" Alsoanother thing don't like about this show- their EVP's suck, most of thetime you cant understand what its saying and then you have Zak sayingit's is saying "I hate Zak" or whatever. As said this show is acomplete joke. I'm sure there are gonna be a few Ghost Adventure fansthat will be offended by that and probably call me names- oh well! lol.If you want to see a real paranormal show then watch Ghost Hunters.
Ghost adventures is the show that can prove that ghosts exist. what ilike about this show is that they review their evidence and play itback. they also have the history on the places where they investigatethe most haunted places in the world like Waverly Hills, The StanleyHotel and the one place where ghost or spirits do harm is Bob MackeysMusic World. this show can really shake your nerves and really make youbelieve in something that you didn't even know exist. In the poll onthings that people do exist: ghosts is #1. In the words of Zac Bagans, the leader of their ghost adventures show, states that you are dealingwith people that lived a long time ago and they are trying to reachout. the best way is to listen, but if you don't believe in this, thatis your choice.
I did notice Ghost Adventures did the same training as the same asGhost Hunters,Paranormal Investigators, more or less, all three areHighly Respectable Paranormal Societies. Yes, I have experienced withthe Ghost Adventures crew at Bobby Mackey's(very terrifying), and theupcoming visit for the latest episode in 2011 called Ashmore Estates.Their facts and truth of these places, are anything but all real, it'sall evidential truth and more. I have been in the building and what'snot shown on the show, The names of the victims call out their fromtheir EVPs tell exactly how they died, even dates of death, and theirnames, and I asked some of the townspeople of the small town ofAshmore, if they new some of the names, and yes some were related andsome had records of the deceased. What's more concerning is the rearfarm field behind the Ashmore Estates is a mystery;). Yes, I have metwith some ghost hunters who mostly never caught any bologna phenomena, and they still admire the intensive risks the Ghost trio tries tocontact, by isolating themselves, expressing out, and always more.Surprisingly, some of the ghost hunters have offered to take theParanormal Challenge, and yes, I have also watched Ghost Lab onDiscovery Channel; it was getting pretty good, but not as detailed andinformative as Ghost Adventures, although, CLOSE, in late December, until, they started not getting any or, yes the usual Sons of Guns, andother survival shows , and contest shows sprinkled the television set. It's as well rumored Ghost Adventures may go to Europe again.
I have to admit it - me, a long time "yeah, right, uh huh, whatever"gal loves these guys! Just don't tell my husband. Please.reeseslightning pretty much encapsulated the basic constructs of theirpersonalities. Their shear exuberance can be annoying at times but atleast they are limited in their annoyances. No huge long camera crews,no scipts, it is as it is and, oddly enough, GH is trying hard toemulate that.I admit I was a hardcore GH fan until I stumbled on this crew. I thinkI found their original episode by accident and since then I have beenhooked. Long live the GA crew!!!! They are funny, fun, scary and oddlyinformative. None of the internal histrionics that the GH crew had, nocrew changes (national versus internal - who the hell cares?) Justthree good ole boys, doing what they do. And I have to admit it, Iloved the Valentine's Day episodes too. Talk about look for love in allthe strange places. ::hahahaha::
This show appeared on the Netflix Instant watch on XBox live. So i gaveit a shot. The very first episode i watched was the Poveglia Island inItaly, and i have to say i thought that some parts were a little"iffy". So i decided to give it another watch and immediately i washooked on this gem of a show. I have never seen or heard a ghost in mylife, but this show really makes me believe in them. Zac pretty muchtaunts the ghosts to come out and hurt him and his crew, I reallybelieve these guys genuinely WANT to prove the existence of theparanormal, which is very refreshing to see. I highly recommend thisshow to anyone who wants a good scare, or just something kind ofinteresting to watch. They tend to get some extremely creepy EVP's onevery episode.
I'm a huge fan of paranormal television programs and this one has gotme hooked! The team locks themselves in some of the most haunted placesovernight but first will spend a little time in the town learning aboutthe location and the people there. Even though I feel the trio (Zak,Nick, and Aaron) could do more "debunking" when it comes to many thingsthat occur, this show is raw and is sure to win over the skeptic in you(at least with some of the evidence). You'll find many of theirreactions during lockdown humorous. The three can overdo it a bit. Yousee their raw reactions...no scripts. Be prepared for somebleeping...these boys hold nothing back...and also hearing the word"Dude" at least a hundred times. I wholeheartedly suggest you checkthis program out. It pulls you in, regardless if you love them or hatethem. You won't be able to wait for the commercials to be over.
I think this show is better than Ghost Hunters. They have such moredetails for the places they check out. They keep the same guys all thetime, we like that. All 3 guys are great and Aaron is fun to watch. Myhusband and I are fans of the show. You also get instant satisfaction, they show you there findings as they find them. There is no loud musicplaying. Ghost Hunters does this and it is irritating. I recommend youwatch an episode or two if you are into this paranormal stuff and givethe show a chance. This may be considered a spoiler: one episode theydid bring a female in for a short time as bait, it was funny when Zaksaid to the Ghosts, they are sending her in alone and the Ghosts can dowhatever they want to her. They do not have extra camera men etc, sowhen they say they are alone they are. I have had several experienceswith entities myself and my family. When they talk to so many peopleand you hear them talk of there experiences it is very interesting tome. They interview old employees of the place they go to and set it upbefore they go. I am amazed at what went on in so many of these hauntedplaces around this country. I try to keep track of where they go, Iwould like to visit some of these towns, or hotels etc. There are manythough I would be to afraid to go to after watching them.
I've seen a lot of ghost shows, and this is by FAR the best. It's rawand entertaining. It's funny and they don't waste time showing you themreview the evidence or talk about their social problems. Another thingI love about this is that they show you the evidence as it happens. They have way cooler devices like the spirit box (something that ghostscan use to say things). Whenever I watch the intro, I can't help butsmile at how goofy it is. Although the intro isn't trying to be funny, the show has a sense of humor. Them messing around and making Aaron goto the scariest place by himself every episode really makes it. All andall, it's a really great show that any ghost enthusiast can appreciate(and one of my favorites!).
This show is incredible! It is by far one of the more believable onesthat are on TV and it makes you feel like you are there when they dothe interviews! It is easy to keep up with and the three guys areabsolutely hilarious! Every Friday night me and a group of friends goesout of the way in order to watch this show, we have a big party and wealways are just speechless at the end of the show! The guy in charge,Zak Bagans, is just really real and good at this he found what he wasmeant to do and he does it well! Nick Groff is the one who is able totake a step back and keep things in a clear picture for the audience!Aaron Goodwin is good because you know it is real by the way he reacts! The three of these guys have the most amazing chemistry and it makesfor an enjoyable show! If you haven't seen it you have to watch it andif you have you understand exactly what i am saying!!
The title sums it all up: Three guys go on to experience ghostadventures. That said, let's talk about their methods. They get lockedinto a haunted site, set their cameras up in places where they expectsomething to happen and then roam the building for the rest of thenight. More often than not they actually catch something. Most of thetime it's "voices" that they categorize "unexplained". Sometimesthey're lucky and catch some video, too. Their methods don't seem to betoo professional. Especially the main guy annoys me a lot, because he'salways screaming around. You would think that a ghost also hears youwhen you speak in a normal voice. Most of their findings are "weirdfeelings" which have no scientific reason at all, if you ask me. Theyalways show you wishy-washy footage and claim it's paranormal, when inreality you hardly see anything. Well, I only watch this show because Iguess they have to be lucky sometime and catch something that can betaken as real proof. But really, after all is said and done, this isjust 45min of some guys running around with a camera and yelling andfeeling very important.
This show is so obviously faked. They tried to claim that a guy fromthe 1600s attacked them and then said "I just slapped you bitches."Yes, because men from the 1600s obviously talked like a modern day fratboy. Suuuure. Oh, and there was also the time they tried to claim thatthey caught ghosts having sex. Ghosts. Having sex. They also claim to get multiple EVPs and other evidence of theparanormal per hunt. Most ghost hunters never get anything when they gohunting. Watch this for the entertainment factor ("Dude!", "Dude?", "Dude."),but don't bother taking it seriously.
"... I mean it was like a girl screaming. I'm getting it again. Andjust look at my heat sensor. I just got a blast of cold air. Wait aminute, what was that sound!? Oh my gosh - Did you hear it? Yeah, thatwas so freaky, dude, it sounded like a door... shutting. But we're theonly ones here. And my light didn't even move dude. I know it's dark inhere, I mean it feels dark in here. It's so bad. We shouldn't even bein here. I'm getting it again. The residuals... Wait - was thatfootsteps? Run the EVP's - let's a getta cap of that when we stoppedbeing locked down here." Etc.--The above quasi-dialogue is roughly typical of what may be said at somestage in any given episode of this frighteningly average "standardissue" ghost hunting show. Zzzzzz zzzzz.Basically a bunch of 'time-rich' mid-kids (+ the lead's pretty handsometo rope in the girls), got some cool cameras and a few other bits andpieces (Motion sensors, EVP & temp meters etc.) and decided it wasbetter to make a ghost hunting show, than get what is otherwisereferred to as: "real jobs". The economy sucks and all, anyway. Theplan being that if the show's successful it would then become theirreal job. So, next thing you know it's 2011, and whaddya know...another ghost hunting show became popular, owing to its usual plethoraof bumps, grunts, disembodied voices and disembowelled shadows whichmove through walls on cue. ("Disembowelled shadows"!!? lol ouch) Callme old, but these kind of shows get boring after you've watched acouple of disembodied episodes from one series, and this is nodifferent. "What was that!? Did you see that!?" It was like the sound of somethingor someone... I mean someone... changing the channel dude.
Well, I'll admit it, I fell for it the first 2 episodes and wasthrilled over this show. I thought Zak was okay I didn't mind him butdid think that he was over re-acting to things, only to find out on thethird episode (the asylum) that he was over acting not re-acting andwas a bit bummed out. However, all is not lost, this show is stillentertaining and a bit scary even though it's fake. I realized afterthat so called hand try to grab him (lol) that this was NOT real andthat what they found at the Sloss Boiler was in fact faked and wasdisappointed. I really like the cast, Aaron and Nick are cool guys andif Zak takes it down a notch with the over acting then he's not bad towatch either.Well, it's still a good show to watch but it's no better than MostHaunted and Ghost Hunters as far as reality goes....staged, faked, etc.but definitely one of the best.
In Ghost Dude Adventures a group of dudes set out to document evidenceof the supernatural by shouting at it. The locations they visit arequite interesting but the host is just an absolute tool and after awhile his constant shouting and repetition of the word 'dude' starts tograte. Most people watch these shows because they'd like to see some evidencebut you won't get any here. Their EVP's sound like nothing and arefrequently ruined by them shouting over everything.Their Halloween show was unbelievable. They were running around anasylum shouting abuse and "challenging the ghosts". Then you'd get asegment about how awfully these people were treated and how they diedin misery. Then back to the shouting. At one point they think they heara woman screaming, this is their reaction - word for word: "Dude! Iheard a woman screaming! High five, high five!"The live show also featured a 'ghost trap' (guess if it worked or not),that swinger looking couple that seem to pop up on every ghost show andbest of all a guy in a cowboy hat blatantly throwing something and thenpretending it had been snatched out of his hand. At least they had thegood sense to disown him on the next episode.Awful show. They should have called it Ghost Hunting on Steroids.
IMDb puts this program in the categories History / Sci-Fi / Thriller. My satellite TV guide refers to it as Paranormal Series. I wouldcategorize it as Sci-Fi / Supernatural / Sad attempt at Thriller. Inthe name of full disclosure, I've never seen a fake reality show ormovie that I liked, horror shows are not often my favoriteentertainment, but I occasionally do like horror films. I frequentlylike history, documentaries, Sci-Fi, science, and supernatural shows. I do give Ghost Adventures a bit of a pass because it is categorized asSci-Fi and Paranormal; by definition that means it is fictional, andoutside our human understanding of the natural world. On the up side, Ican see how some might be entertained by the silly antics the host, ZakBagans, and his team (Zak is handsome and has a great body, but wouldbe better looking if he'd just stop talking). I mean the guys seem tobelieve that every creaking board is a ghost, and every breeze is ademon. They also seems to think they can intimidate supernaturalentities by yelling at them, and calling them names. To see grown menacting like that is quite humorous, and intentionally so, because ifgrown men did actually believe that silliness, it would be just too sadto bear. The down side of Ghost Adventures is that it is filmed in the RealityTV style, and the guys are either fooling themselves or attempting tofool their audience into thinking they are collecting "evidence ofparanormal activity." As I've written in other program reviews, whenpeople mix Reality TV with Supernatural, the only possible outcomes aresilly humor, or significant boredom. Luckily, GH has a significanthumor quotient which helps to balance out the way big boredom. The most disturbing thing about Ghost Adventures is that shows likethis tend to fuel the magical thinking beliefs of people who posseslimited critical thinking skills. Many of the positive reviews of thisshow seem to support that assertion. In and of itself, I don't reallycare if people believe in ghosts; the problem is, when people believetrue that for which there is no evidence, that belief can effect howthat person understands other facets of reality. E.g. If a personbelieves he knows the will of "The one true God," and based on thatbelief in god's will, he judges some group of non-believers to be evil(non-believer being any people who do not share his particular beliefof god's will), and if he also believes the one true god rewards hisservants who kill evil people in his name, that person might be willingto kill many people who "offend" his concept of god. I admit that is anextreme example, but it's an example that has happened time and timeagain throughout recorded history, and still happens way too often formy liking. I have no expectation that my words here will change the mind of anyghost or magic true believers who like this show. If on the other handa reader is curious about how we humans come to believe many of thethings we do, one might want to consider doing an Internet search forMichael Shermer. He has written several good books which explain ourcurrent scientific knowledge of the human mind's inner workings. Hewrites his books in such a way that those without significantscientific education can still readily understand the subject matter. One of his more recent books is "The Believing Brain" which can befound online and at many traditional book stores. It's a veryinteresting read, but I will warn you that after reading it, you mightbe inclined to reconsider some of you long and deeply held beliefs.Even if it doesn't cause you to reconsider your old beliefs, it mightstill help you in selecting which future beliefs you come to hold.I do not sell books, and I do not make money from the sale of any bookon the market today. I have, however, just finished reading "TheBelieving Brain" and thought the book applies well to this subject.
My first reaction upon seeing the commercial for the series premiere onthe Travel Channel was: "Oh, great. Not another ghost-hunting show!"Initially, I thought, "Okay, there's a cocky buff guy (perhaps onsteroids) with a big ego who wants publicity and likes to show off hisbiceps." But after a while, I feel that the ghost-hunting trio is moreentertaining and more worthy of being nationally televised and watchedthan either British women screaming (Most Haunted) or another boringgroup barely getting anything (Ghost Hunters).Obviously, the primary reason we viewers watch these paranormalprograms is to see to believe. Having seen these shows as well asmaterial posted on the Internet, I believe that ghosts/spirits of thedead (and thus the afterlife) are plausible. I am agnostic about theexistence of the afterlife and ghosts. With that said, I am alsouncertain that any of the unexplainable phenomena the crew captured onvideo (including full-bodied apparitions, shadow people, mists, movingobjects, and physical harm and possessions) are actual. On average, Isee two (2) visual phenomena captured per episode/investigation. But asalways, it's up to us to decide. As for the shallow and narrow-mindedskeptics, especially those hardcore and lazy ones, I highly recommend(as any paranormal enthusiast would) that they spend hours atreportedly haunted local places and experience whatever happens forthemselves. A Gallup poll conducted in 2005 shows that 3/4 of Americansbelieve in something paranormal; whereas, 1/3 (32%) believe in theexistence of ghosts, and 37% in haunted properties. All in all, their investigations seem rather fruitful in pursuingvisual and auditory "evidence" to prove that ghosts, and thus theafterlife, exist (and that witnesses aren't crazy). Being apparentlyenthusiastic and emotional, the crew experiences and documents more(apparently real) incidents than TAPS from Ghost Hunters and any othercompeting show that I know of, which have faulty camera crews andall-too-brief vigils that last only a few hours. Despite TAPS's more"professional" approach, TAPS rarely receives any evidence and is tooboring to watch; whereas, GAC is much more entertaining and capturesthe most phenomena, spending an entire night (10±2 hours) at eachplace. Indeed, Ghost Adventures got so much stuff that anti-AdventuresHunters fans find their evidence hard to believe and suspect that it'sfake. Moreover, their televised 2006 documentary filmed in 2004 (duringtheir amateur days) has received several awards, including the 2006Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the NYIIFVF. After the airingof the "walking apparition" and "flying brick" in the film, TAPS seemsto follow wherever GAC first went: the Old Washoe Club in VirginiaCity, NV and the Goldfield Hotel in Goldfield, NV. The trio may bescared more easily, but maybe fear increases paranormal activity.Having read feedback comments on various websites, including IMDb, Ifind that haters and hard-headed viewers are criticizing the show tooseriously. Ghost Adventures Live at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylumin Weston, West Virginia was the best live televised ghost hunt I'veever seen so far. For me, neither Most Haunted Live nor Ghost Hunters:Live Halloween Countdown even compare to GAL's higher level ofinteractivity. The trio has even publicly investigated some places withfans and enthusiasts alike. Those who seriously dislike this rarelyboring show really need to chill. They could have at least enjoyed(rather than overlook) the entertaining moments of spontaneous humor, such as their overreaction and three body types. Where else can you seea trio of buff, thin, and fat guys all in one show? The hatersshouldn't be taking it too seriously; there's no need to be allnegative. Geez, no sense of humor, which is very much needed.Sure, I do agree that ex-skeptic Zak (born 1977) can sometimes beannoying, irritating, obnoxious, overrated, cheesy, lame, egotistic, and verbally repetitive. Since he and Nick take part in the editing, heis responsible for making himself look that way. To me, the alpha maleis a better narrator than either a host or lead investigator. I thinkhe tries to act tough to make up for running from the brick in theGoldfield Hotel and from the Virginia City cemetery. But wouldn'tanyone be scared in a creepy, dark, haunted place? Zak was a DJÂmaybethat explains his attitude. Is it just me, or is married Nick (born1980) getting mellower since Season 1? The youngest member, he seems tobe the coolest and most mature. And who cannot love that Aaron (born1976)? The oldest member, he's so cuddly, bubbly, and funny. Is it justme, or is he losing a little weight and fear? Who would ever forget hisfright face after hearing the EVP in the miners' cabin? I can't helpbut say to myself, "Poor Aaron!" He cracks me up every time.FYI: Throughout the series, Zak and Nick keep incorrectly saying"(electronic voice) phenomenons" instead of "phenomena." Also, Zak andAaron like to say "dude," and Aaron gasps with a laughable facialexpression and often shouts, "Whoa, my God!" LOL!So far to me, Ghost Adventures is the most artistic, entertaining, andfruitful ghost-hunting TV series. Destination Truth (2007Âpresent) andGhost Adventures are my top two most entertaining paranormal TV shows.Scariest Places on Earth (2001Â06) looks and sounds like the mostoriginal paranormal reality TV series. Overall, I give the show 8/10(4/5) stars.
