We have taken some photos of "Grey's Anatomy - Season Eight".
They represent actual movie quality.
I've watched the first three seasons of Grey's anatomy within fourweeks and it took me by surprise. The first season started up alrightand interesting, but it was clear that the characters had not beendeveloped yet. They were somewhat rigid and not always easy to get usedto. This flaw was well compensated in the second season, when, in myopinion, the show really hitted off. From that point on, it became thestrong soapy drama which it has been till now. The characters werepresented in a broader sense, the story lines took me on stronger thanbefore and the great acting lifted the whole series up a notch.Or eventwo. In my opinion, season two was the best out of the three andespecially the cliffhanger of the second season was excellent. Seasonthree was somewhat different, in the way that the traditional storylines settled down a bit more then before. This resulted in a sometimescompletely different perspective then I was used to with this seriesand in all honesty, was not always satisfactory. However, this show hasnot been dull one moment and the damage is done; you're so much in lovewith the characters that you simply want more then you already have. If you liked the interrelationships between the characters of -forexample- ER, you'll like this. The medical cases are nice, but not themost interesting within the range of medical series. The drama is whatshould take you on and if it does, you'll see a series with excellentacting, nice story lines and an addictive setting. If you add that upwith the superb mix of soap themes and strong, well acted drama you'llknow that this show holds a promising future and is well worth theinvestment of your time.
i love grey's anatomy!! i like the idea of mixing up these youngdoctor's personal lives with the complexity of being a surgical intern.i have watched religiously....BUT.....i am a nurse....and i have beenoffended multiple times at some of the comments that the charactersmake about nurses. they degrade nurses and the profession. in oneepisode one of the interns had to crack a chest for the first time andremove a clot after open heart surgery....guess who talked her throughthe procedure since no one else was available..... A NURSE!!! as acountry, we are experiencing a severe nursing shortage and it is goingto get a lot worse. the media can help by supporting nursing and notpushing it aside as an afterthought on these types of shows. grey'sanatomy has been very successful for being on air for less than 2months yet the show has already offended many a nurse by making rudecomments about nurses or acting as if a surgeon is more important thana nurse. neither can do their job without the other!! both surgeons andnurses alike would benefit from this show supporting the nursingprofession.
I love Grey's Anatomy so much! It is my favorite show. After you learnthe characters and their quirks and charms you begin to feel like youare a part of their lives. You want them to succeed so badly eventhough you somehow know they might fail. This is my favorite showbecause the acting is awesome. Ellen Pompeo (Meredith), Sandra Oh(Cristina), Justin Chambers (Alex), Katherine Heigl (Izzie) and T.RKnight (George) are phenomenal. They develop their characters sonicely, and you really feel as if you are in their lives. Other greatcharacters include Dr. Shepheard, Dr. Burke, Dr. Addison Shepheard andone of my all time favorites Dr. Bailey. This show is fantastic and Icannot wait till next season.
I only give this a 3 out of 10 because of one thing. I am SO sick ofthe politics outside of the show trumping the show itself. When Grey'sfirst started, I ADORED it! I watched it every week. Then, this season, they moved it a different night, opposite CSI. I quit watching, figuring I'd buy the DVD. At this point, however, I really don't give arat's behind if I ever watch it again. I'm really just sickened by howmuch rotten publicity an originally great show is getting - publicitythat was generated by a stupid fight that cast members had andpublicity caused them to fire one of the hugely main characters. Therewas no reason whatsoever for that fight to become as out in the open asit did. And now they're attacking Ellen Pompeo for something herboyfriend did years ago? Come on. Grow up and watch the show for themedical drama, not the lives of the actors and actresses on the show. Iwas a fan until all of this. I still think that the premise iswonderful. I still love McDreamy and Meredith together. However, whenthe plot began to be trumped by outside baloney, I gave up. I'm suremany others have too. Way to go gossip-mongers. Thanks for ruining oneof the best shows on television.
This was hands down my favorite show at the end of its first season. Isaw one episode then when out and brought the complete first season andwatched it in one weekend and couldn't wait for the second season tocome out. It was the first major series where three of the main, leading characters where African Americans, and no Afro-centric issuewas made of it, nor were they buffoons or furthering any of the manyAfro-centric stereotypes that Edie Murphy, Chris Rock and others havegotten rich (and famous ) feeding to white America. I loved theseimages even beyond the images of the Cosbys a generation ago, simplybecause they were portrayed as well educated, intelligent AfricanAmericans who where a natural part of the normal bigger society. Thisprogram began to self destruct when (after having overcome the politicsof standard black characterizations) they succumbed to the politicalcorrectness pressure of positive gay portraits. Even though theportrayal of Dr. Torrez 'changing' to gay seemed a bit contrived andforced, it didn't really take anything from the show overall so it wasbasically a moot point. They were able to present a pro-gay portrayalwithout injury; good for them. But when they decided to punish IsaiahWashington for politically incorrect statements made off the air, incomments that should never have been made public; they cut off theirhead to spite their nose. Washington's comments were made in the heatof an augment, where the type of comments commonly made in ourgeneration, and didn't reflect his opinion of gays in general; if ithad, he would never have portrayed a proud gay American in the movie'Get on the bus'. Not renewing his contract was the absolute worstprogramming choice that they could ever have made. The character of Dr.Burke was the most interesting of all the characters; not the mostbeloved, but by far the most interesting and his character was aperfectly match to the also flawed character of Christina Yang . Thisseries has been in a death role since that pivotal choice with severalcharacter changes and several major characters jumping ship. It seemslike the current producers are intent on devaluing the remaining blackcharacters, in the attempt to appeal to a broader white audience. Itseems that Hollywood simply can't learn that when a thing works, youdon't screw it up for the sake of political correctness; once you havescrewed it up, screwing it up further doesn't help. I salute the Grey'sAnatomy that once wasÂ
If you think ABC can't get any better - you're wrong. With the greatsuccess over smash-hits, "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost" they alsopicked up a few shows over mid-season hoping for more success. They got"Jake in Progress," "Eyes" and "Grey's Anatomy" - but "Grey's Anatomy"is definitely considered the best out of those three.Grey's Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo (who has starred in a few movies butwas never really noticeable) as the narrator - Meredith Grey. Hermother is the famous surgeon and she is trying to follow in hermother's footsteps. The story revolves around her time as an intern andthe people she meets and sort of is portrayed as "survival camp formedical students." The minute she arrives at work, she meets ChristinaYang (Sandra Oh - flawless in her bitchy supporting role), GeorgeO'Malley (T.R. Knight - one word: breakthrough performer), IzzieStevens (Katherine Heighl - very, very believable as a model who ismore like the girl-next-door), and Alex Karev (Justin Chambers - playssort of a not-so-likable person). Most of all, there is Dr. DerekShepherd (Patrick Dempsey - very attractive), the man that Meredith hada one-night stand with - he just happens to be her boss. This is a show that wants to be liked. It just sort of screams in yourface "Love me!" with all its interesting characters who are verydifferent from each other and a nice plot that you just have to beaddicted to. The supporting work is clearly a winner. It has a verylovable supporting cast with T.R. Knight as the sweet and sort of the"average guy" as George O'Malley and Katherine Heigl who is verylikable in her role - even Sandra Oh is a clear winner on top. And mypersonal favorite is "the Nazi" - Dr. Miranda Bailey who is played byChandra Wilson. Very, very well done. This is sort of a soapy spin on "Scrubs" and "ER" but with lightcomedy/romance and serious and intense drama where character build upthe plot. Some of the characters may get a bit annoying for your taste(ex. Meredith Grey) but the acting is just superb and you can't helpliking it. It has a guilty-pleasure feel to it and you just can't helpbut stay up late for this show. This show is definitely not about"medicine" - when it has to deal with medicine, it has a clear softside to it. The doctors play heroes (pretty clichéd, but yeah - this ISa hospital show) and save lives or care or has to live up to certaindefeat. Just to be aware: This is a show aboutrelationships-within-a-hospital and the life of each person that worksthere. The show breaks all the "bad" mid-season shows record. It is justextremely enjoyable. Go check it out - you'll definitely like it if notlove it.
And that word is rubbish. If you want an engaging hospital show thatshows it as it is, watch Scrubs. If you want a show which maybe isdramatised, but is at least entertaining, watch House. If you want abadly miscast show (only Sandra Oh looks like she might be a doctor:Ellen Pompeo looks at least 3 years OLDER than everyone else), withoverdramatised turgid plot lines, all about how dreadful the life ofthe special person who becomes a surgeon is, watch this.Surgeons have little contact with conscious patients: this rubbish thatsurgeons give up their life to save others is insulting to nurses, allied health professionals and the other specialists who actually dealwith patients. Would that there be justice: shows like this wouldn'tget made.
This is a TV-drama that keep me stay put in my sofa even if I have togo to the bathroom. And that, in spite of that I really don't like towatch surgery on TV. But these characters... wow! So well casted and sowell played. You really love them and it's so easy to take them to yourheart. But I think the greatness of Grey's is the plot, the timing andthe "fingertipfeeling" as we say in Sweden. (Subtle in English...?) Andthe absolutely right mix of drama and humor. It's not only DoctorMcDreamy you fall in love with, I'm in love with them all...!Thank you Shonda Rimes and rest of the crew!Love from Beja in Stockholm, Sweden
In just watching a few episodes of this show, I was hoping for what mayeventually be the inevitable for me...getting ill, and going to ahospital. If I do, I hope I never see any of these folks. (or any ofthese kind of folks.) Okay...I am not too naive to believe that this ismore than television...and entertainment drama...and much poeticlicense is taken upon each episode regarding medical actions...but noneof these folks make me feel comfortable about ever going into ahospital - interns or doctors. Many of the lead characters are unbelievably attractive...so pouty...soconflicted...so stereotypical!Human? Well, would I really care about their personal conflicts if Iwas ill and needed medical service?!?!? No. But since this is atelevision series, the thing is....do I care about watching their livesweek after week? No. Everyone here is boring and predictable. This is the SLOWEST group of folks I've ever seen respond for a MedicalTV show. And yes, I have seen many: from "Medical Center" to "ER". Even"Marcus Welby" of "Marcus Welby MD" moved faster than this. Boy, is thenew generation missing out on television medical drama if this is whatis held up as the new standard. These folks even speak slow...it's soslow, I can almost see the script. And stereotypical characters? You bet. The loud mouth angry AfricanAmerican woman with a secret heart of gold, the over achievingAsian(s), the cute Causaion male doctor everyone wants, the moodydoctors, the old hats, the ex-models who got a TV role, sex in thecloset (well, substitute "closet" for any room or space) during workhours...and on and on and on and on...I am disappointed in this kind of television fare. ABC is getting worseand worse with it. This program is not an intelligent one, it's notentertaining and it doesn't make me excited or want to champion for anyof these folks. It's painful to watch, especially if you have seenother medical programs prior to this - or if you are hoping forsomething deep. This is not it.
Grey's Anatomy. It's the perfect mix of serious and funny. It's justaddicting. I look forward to this one hour all week long, and never hasan hour felt so short! The writing is amazing. It draws viewers in, andkeeps them attached. I started watching it mainly because DesperateHousewives was over and I thought 'Oh, this looks good'. Normally, Idon't go for the medical/doctor-ish shows. But like i said, its aperfect mixture serious and funny. The writers don't overwhelm you withmedical talk and constant surgery, like ER. At the same time, it's nota pure 'comedy' like scrubs. It's nice. The casting for the show is great also. They act so well together andmake the show enjoyable to watch. I don't sit in front of the TV andcringe at the acting, like I do for some shows. To me, this is what Ilove about shows.Grey's Anatomy gets a five star rating from me, and I hope this showkeeps going for awhile, since I have no idea what I would watch Sundaynights if it wasn't on.
My girlfriend watches GA and she lured me into watching it. I didn'tthink it would become something I would laugh and cry over and care sodamn much about every week. My favorite character? I can't choose.Lovely, torn, plucky title-doc Meredith? Brassy, passionate Callie?Sweet, goofy O'Malley? Loving, lost Izzie? Sexy, sharp Addison?BurkeandYang? Mouthy but caring Karev? Poor lonely Chief Webber?Tough-as-nails momma Bailey? Even "McDreamy" Shepherd and "McSteamy"Sloan, bless their sleazy horndog butts? The medical dramas seem totake a back seat to the personal soap operas of the interns' lives, alot of the time. But damn me if I don't keep on tuning in, every singleweek. Bottom line? If I were sick or injured, even with all theirdrama, I'd want Seattle Grace Hospital's young surgeons on my case.
I thought this show was going to be around first year interns at aSeattle Hospital. I wasn't expecting Meredith Grey to be the centralcharacter. I love watching Sandra Oh and Patrick Dempsey. They are bothexcellent actors themselves. With the success of Sideways, Sandra canbe singing all the way to the bank. She is very entertaining to watcheven in this show. I would say this is an average show. I like the factthat Meredith is the daughter of a famous surgeon who now does notremember her own name possibly from Alzheimer's disease. I do notunderstand networks who keep trying to use the same familiarsurroundings like a hospital or a police station in dramas. There aretoo many dramas on today. I would much rather have something original.Since it comes after Desperate Housewives, it is not a bad show. Itjust needs time to grow. There are good episodes sometimes but I thinkthe characters are so involved in their personal love lives that theyhave forgotten medicine sometimes. I don't think this show is evolvingappropriately to combine love, medicine, story lines, and a mixture ofit equally. I love Kate Burton who appears as Ellis Grey, Meredith'smother. Anyway, it has become Ally McBeal meets ER now rather than St.Elsewhere.
The fact is if you watch Ally McBeal, ER, Grey's Anatomy, PowerRangers...etc. and all the other Hollywood shows that you can name,East Asian females are over - represented, while East Asian males areunderly represented, there are plenty of East Asian male actors whowant to work.Asian men in Hollywood are often asexuallized, after all the only timesyou see a Asian guy on TV is either an over 50 monk or Karate/Kung Fumaster, or under 10 Indiana Jones sick kick kid and of course there isthe odd occasion of a gay Chinese guy (Law and Order). There are plenty of Asians in US community, why is it only females arerepresented, I think IT IS SICK AND IT IS A SOCIAL ILL.
Grey's Anatomy boils down to vulgar scripts, poor dialogs, mediocreperformances, common events. Ultametly, Grey's anatomy is mediocre. Thewhole thing rings hollow. Even the characters personality's seem false,as if they were prefabricated, stereotypical. Irritanting in their ownpredictability. Grey's Anatomy is nowhere near other TV series likeHouse or ER, nowhere near their sophistication, refinement, depth, dynamism and complexity of characters and plot that pulls us into thestory itself, making us think about issues of our everyday existence.Grey's anatomy resembles more to a little kid's show when it comes tothese issues. Characters and story lack credibility, example, they'refrequently to corny, and corny, is always artificial.
This television series is one of the best dramas I've ever seen in awhile. The cast has great chemistry, especially Patrick Dempsy andEllen Pompeo. The script is flawless, full of new obstacles for eachcharacter to go through per episode, with bits of comedic writing in itas well. I have compared this series with the ER series and personally,I like this series much better. Grey's Anatomy has bits of life lessonsfor viewers to learn every so often. Many episodes breaks your hearts, making you feel tempted to even yell or shout at the television screen!Great cliff-hangers, making viewers waiting impatiently until nextThursday to see what happens next! Overall, Grey's Anatomy is awonderful show. Tune in!
I would like to comment on the recent episode of Grey's Anatomy, airingon 4/9/05. I have been a Critical Care R.N. specializing in adult ICUand open heart recovery for 10 years and am very proud of it. I watchedthe recent episode on 4/9/05 and I am greatly APPALLED at the POORwriting, obvious RIDICULOUS medical advisory, and MOST OF ALL.... THEDEGRADING DEPICTION AND REFERENCE TO NURSES!!!! I don't know who theyhired to write this GARBAGE, but let me tell you one thing.. Every daythat I and every Nurse in this country go to work, WE are the peoplewho stand at the patient's side and MORE THAN OFTEN, stand between thepatient LIVING or DYING, Especially in the Critical Care or Open Heartrecovery phase. I am SICK and TIRED of shows like this one who depictNURSES as Mindless and Doctors acting as if they are GODS!!!PLEEAASSE!!! FYI...About this episode,First year interns do not knowenough or have the skill to perform surgery on their first day. Theybarely know first aid for the first year!!! Secondly, in the scenewhere "The Surgeon" was admonishing a Nurse for GOD FORBID, She usedher BRAIN, questioned an order. THAT IS A PRUDENT AND INTELLIGENTNURSES JOB!!!!! Last, before I fall off my soap box, If a Doctor talkedto me in that frame of reference, I would have gladly SET THE RECORDSTRAIGHT!!!!! As for me, I will never Insult my intelligence again bywatching another episode of BOGUS GARBAGE such as GREY'S ANATOMY!!!!
I love shows, I saw all of prison break, almost all of heroes, all of oc etc but every show seemed to get worse as more seasons came. Greysanatomy however improved a lot in season 6, new characters, gossip, fights and the ending was so thought through and tensed and bright andsimply perfect and the best season ending I have ever seen before. The Dialogs between all characters are amazing, they are funny butactually make sense which is very rare in shows ( gossip girl ) Irarely right reviews but this show just deserves to get a good review.Keep it up ABC, one of your best shows by far!!Start watching it from s6/5, thought s1,2,3,4 were annoying at times
First of all, I love this show. BUT, I don't understand how Dr. DerekShepherd could have been talking about his wife as being the devil (andworse) for all those weeks, and now all of a sudden, he won't sign thedivorce papers? The reason given is ridiculous. He said he won't signthem because, "after all, she is his wife"....! What happened to hisintense hatred of her? How can he give up Meredith now? We waited allthis time for these 2 to get together, and now he puts a stop to it.How could he do such an about-face? He was waiting all this time forHER to sign the papers and send them to him, and now HE won't signthem. It is totally out of character.
The pilot doesn't exactly fill me with confidence for the quality ofthis series. Grey's Anatomy tries really hard to seem like ER'shardcore little brother. The senior doctors are so mean to the internsit's like Full Metal Jacket with scalpels; it's barely credible. A"Nazi" surgeon who orders her interns not to wake her unless a patientis physically dying? Nobody behaves like this. Interns who arepractically stabbing each other in the back to get "In the game".You're joking right? Grey's is trying way too hard.Honestly, Grey's Anatomy's characters remind me a lot of Scrubs. Butwhile Scrubs' Cox character was a superficial bully written withhumorous intent, he is the only character behaving as such in thatshow. The pilot of Grey's features a hospital full of venomous, bullying doctors (aside from the heartthrob lead male doctor of course, ouch). It just looks silly. Indeed, while originally Scrubs was simplya sharp medical satire, when watched under the shadow of Grey's Anatomyit becomes an unbelievably accurate parody. I can hardly believe thelocal hype about this being the new number 1 show in the US. Is TVreally getting that bad? I certainly hope Grey's Anatomy improves after episode one, though Ican't say I'm remotely inclined to find out.
On this show: the city, all the interns characters, the views, theconflict, the funny stuff, the romances, the affairs and the drama arereally Great My favorite is "Izzie and George" they act perfectly onthose character. is there possible Izzie and George get intorelationship likes a couple?...it would be very great and funnyforsure...=). alex, finally he shown his character on sesion 2 it makesme more and more love on this show. Grey's anatomy is highlyrecommended, this show is really great keep it as natural and alwaysgives the best best episode so far when George slept with Grey....it'sreally funny and dramatic...
