We have taken some photos of "Hart of Dixie - Season One".
They represent actual movie quality.
When I started watching this show I immediately thought of Everwood andMen on Trees. I knew Rachel Bilson from The OC and I thought she's a well enoughactress but unfortunately not in Hart of Dixie. I find her performancepretty stiff and cold. The show itself is full of clichés. People fromthe big cities are that way and people from the small towns are thisway. Hart of Dixie has no heart, it's just a copy.Well, when I'm bored I will keep watching. Maybe it gets a littlebetter over time but there are so many other shows to be watched thatare actually worth the time - so maybe not ;)
Simply put, absolutely charming. If you're not entertained, you mayjust have a heart of stone. Possibly the best thing on t.v. sinceNorthern Exposure. This is the first I've seen of Rachel Bilson so Ican't compare it to the other shows mentioned in other reviews. Sheadmirably carries the heavy load, with tons of absolutely flawlesssupporting players. The simmering animosity between her and thequintessential Southern Belle, Lemon, is priceless. Jaime King as LemonBreeland is absolute Southern perfection. She is the embodiment ofSouthern charm. Tough as nails, wickedly condescending, at times justplain mean. Then tragically vulnerable. You just want to hug thestuffing out of her!Darn near flawless,I can't think of how to improve the show. Perhapssome gratuitous swimsuit scenes at the local swimming hole? Maybe haveDoc Hart partake in some gator hunting? Maybe a zombie crossover withthe Walking Dead!?
As an avid watcher of Gilmore Girls, I was eager to try out a showwhich many people seemed to think was fairly similar. I can definitelysee some similarities between Hart of Dixie and Gilmore Girls, but I dothink a more accurate match would be Everwood. In fact, Hart of Dixieis essentially the modernized replica of Everwood. Both shows tell thestory of New York surgeons relocating to a small town practice andcompeting with the other practitioner in town. The main differencebetween the two, however, is that Hart of Dixie features the beautifuland talented Rachel Bilson who plays a somewhat ditzy but ultimatelylovable character that just wants to fit in. Overall, with theexception of some Southern stereotypes which do at times make mecringe, I must admit I find this show very charming. The characters dodevelop throughout the season, and the medical aspect makes up for, say, the lack of quick-witted dialogue that Gilmore Girls provided. Iwould definitely recommend this show to those who enjoyed and missEverwood, and look forward to seeing the storyline progress.
Hart of Dixie is a fun, fresh, and witty comedy-drama series thatfocuses on the ups and downs of Bluebell's newest resident, Dr ZoeHart, played by the charming Rachel Bilson. This grabbed my attentionfrom the start because it follows in the footsteps of such golden TVdramas as Ally McBeal and Dawson's Creek. The plot might not be uniquebut it is worked to perfection with some very fine acting skills fromthe likes of Jamie King, beautiful old-style settings, and of course, awell-written dialogue that makes the characters and plot linesrelatable and believable. In fact, what makes Hart of Dixie so great,is that it avoids the recent trend in making TV series into fashionstatements,or relying on uber-violent,uber-graphic sex scenes to livena vacuous content. My prediction is that if it keeps up the standard ithas set, this is likely to become a classic in its own right.
I hopefully tuned in thinking we could see something authenticallySouthern, like "Steel Magnolias", or "Fried Green Tomatoes". Thisdoesn't even come up to the level of "The Dukes of Hazzard".Love the premise. But Unfortunately, this seems to be just anotherHollywood version of "The South". The clichés are abundant, from theBlonde with big red lips, the gossipy Southern Women, and the horribleSouthern drawls. The only thing authentic about this series is thepilot being filmed in Wilmington, NC. With future episodes being filmedin LA, I am wondering how it can can improve. I may watch again, with the hope of it getting better.
The title - is the best there is for this TV show , cant be anothertitle. The show has Rachel Bilson main character. Rachel Bilson - is avery good actress , hope "Hart Dixie" will be a long series TV show. What i like the most is her voice , i'm watching few series currentlybut this one is good , i think i can say it will be at least as good as"The O.C" standards , only that one was orange county with beaches andstudents and a lot of drama , this one is more of a comedy and i sawthat romance isn't included in the style but from what i saw in thefirst episode i do think is romance included. I like doctor TV shows soi will say this one is a good deal .
It's nice to have a pleasant hour long comedy with light romance on TV.There are too many crime shows. Josh Schwarz delivers tongue in cheekhumor and a good likable cast. It's a Dr Quinn meets Sweet Home Alabamastory and it's quite charming. Zoe moves from NYC to Bluebell Alabamato practice medicine. The culture differences do provide enough laughs.Rachel Bilson is Rachel Bilson just like Audrey Hepburn was alwaysAudrey Hepburn. She may not be that convincing as a doctor but whocares - she is likable and manages to carry a series. The series relieson the other cast members equally. Jaimie King is pretty and acts wellas the high strung Southern Belle Lemon. The male leads Scott Porterand Wilson Bethel aren't that good looking but suit their roles and areconvincing actors.Overall pleasant and watchable - I'll keep watching and hope it lasts.
This show is about a city girl moving into a small town. I do enjoythis show. I love how the community is so close. It makes me wish thatI lived in a small community such as Bluebell. I find this show unique because it isn't like any other show currentlyon TV, that I have seen. It's has a blend of city, country, small citytraditions and medical language.I also enjoy how it isn't drama filled like other popular shows. Hartof Dixie has comedy and the characters get more complex as the showgoes on. Also I enjoy how the show starts with a "mystery" that islater solved medically at the end of the show.
Its detractors mostly fault it for what it's not- it's not your typicaldoctor-drama and it's not trying to portray a real-life surgeon. If you judge the show on what it is trying to do- provide 40 minutes ofheart-warming entertainment, then I think Rachel Bilson's nice-chickschtick and Lemon's bullying friendship along with great support fromthe rest of the cast, provides a nice alternative to practically everyother TV programme out there.I love that Hart of Dixie lets you take it with a pinch of salt. I likewatching a medically oriented programme that doesn't recycle those ERclichés that every such show from Third Watch to Grey's Anatomy has tohobble through for the plot. 'Get the paddles! clear!', 'he's gone intov-tach', tacky-cardia. I mean gimme a break. I'm sorry but the fakeblood, fake body parts, fake killing and murdering all have their placebut if a show wants a lighter take on living, outside of Vegas, Miamiand LA with fewer guns, more food, flirting, and dating and then what'snot to like? I wish them many happy returns. Hart of Dixie definitely deserves a second and third season as far asI'm concerned. I think the show has plenty of material to explore withrelationships, farce & fancy and the fish out of water element. Ireally hope it gets renewed.
I was eager to watch this show, but was highly disappointed. The actorstry to force their southern accents/dialect and the overcharacterizations can be offensive if you are from the south. I am afan of several of the actors but do not feel their roles truly showcasetheir talents. I don't know if its the writers or the talent but Idon't think this show will be around long. The best thing about thisshow is the town itself. I think it is very beautiful and inspiring, but the bad writing, dialect and acting will lead to an early end forthe group. I hope they have something else lined up. The producersshould have taken time to really visit a small southern town becausemany of their ideas for this show are outdated and typical of someonethat has probably never lived in the south and if they have probablyvery disconnected.
I began watching this series primarily because the setting is my homestate and I was curious about how "right" they are getting it. So far,the references to Alabama Football are pretty much on but everywhereelse is a fail, mainly because they are missing so many opportunitiesfor authentic humor. For example, when Zoe decided to purchase some wine it would have beenmore authentic (and revealing) if she had discovered that she wasliving in a "dry" county (most small, rural areas in Alabama are dry, meaning no alcohol sales are allowed)and had to find transportation 15miles down the road to a wet county. Ridiculous, right? And on theissue of transportation, even in a small southern town, one generallycan't walk everywhere. This New Yorker, who probably has never had aneed to drive, needs to learn. Fun. It would also be an entertainingongoing joke for her to have tried the fried catfish or grits andactually liked them. Each week she could find her new crack (DreamlandBBQ, Krispy Kream Doughnuts)and soon she would have difficultly fittinginto those Chanel shorts. We would all have a better understanding ofwhy Southern women tend to be "fluffy." OK, enough of rewriting thistale (except, the "Belles" have GOT to go) This program would actuallybe watchable except for one major detail, Rachel Bilson is absolutelyunbelievable as a doctor. Furthermore, the practice and relationshipwith her medical partner is so unprofessional I would think it aninsult to the medical community.Overall, I'm convinced the longevity of this program and appeal for abroader viewer base are dependent on this character and hercircumstances being more entertaining and less silly.
Let's get this out of the way: it's not a heavy drama, it's notrealistic, it's a bit clichéd. But as a weekly viewing experience: it'slighthearted, fun, charming, entertaining and it works without havingto try so hard. Some characters might annoy some viewers (the southern belle characteris pushed to its limits, Rachel Bilson as dizzy surgeon who has tospend 1 year as a general doctor in the middle of nowhere might work asa dizzy new yorker but not totally convince as a surgeon), but I thinkthat the overall charm of the show makes it easy to look past this andenjoy oneself.People should give this show a shot and see for themselves if theyenjoy it or not.
Good entertainment! I look forward to heading South once a week, whereso many of my friends reside. The characters are delightful, thescenery lovely, and the small town values and foundations a goodreminder to this Westerner. Southern charm with just the right amountof tension and complications of real life. A lot of people havecollaborated well to make this a cohesive series. The actors arewell-cast; believable. I'd enjoy seeing some 60-70 year old people inthe cast, portrayed with more diversity, as the younger actors are. Sofar, dithering, alcoholic and dead are the characterizations in thisdemographic-my age bracket. We're far more than that! Perhaps in theseasons to follow I'll see this enrichment added. It's my hope thatthis series will not only continue, but that the writers will developand deepen the essential premise of this terrific program. I believethat any television show that can open our nations' viewers to a widerportrayal of another region is valuable. References and responses toreal events, such as Katrina, on this program, help unify us, byportraying our similarities country-wide. Hart of Dixie is already ableto show our differences with humor and poignancy. Keep up the goodwork, and stay on the air. I look forward to continuing to follow thisseries.
I have to say, I watched the pilot episode for the first time lastnight and I LOVED IT!!!!!! I thought is was an awesome show and I thinkthat it has set up so many avenues for varying parts of the show. Ican't wait to see more and I really hope there are more series of this,I am already addicted to it! I don't understand how someone could notenjoy this show personally. I think that Zoe has been set up for somegreat learning experiences. I can understand that there are someclichés within the show, but come on! which show doesn't have clichésin it these days? It is a television show and people who want to takeit too seriously should go watch a documentary instead. I think thatthe clichés add to the show myself. I cannot wait to watch the nextepisode and hope that it comes out on DVD so I can buy it as well.
