I love Katherine Heigl and I love Ashton Kutcher. They make a cutecouple and frolick in this new Romance together. I admit it"s a littletough seeing Ashton move from the role of comedic jokester playboy to a007 character. But, he's so charming, he pulls it off. Good jobDirector Robert Luketic! Kudos! And who wrote this stuff? Great! Funny!I don't want to give the plot line away... so again I will just tellyou to WATCH THE MOVIE if you love comedies, Ashton and Katherine.Killers is a easy movie to watch. Very entertaining. Well written. Youdo get to see a couple good scenes with Ashton in them. My buddy Lancereally LOVES ASHTON. He would LOVE this movie. I think George wouldtoo. Anyways, Ashton looks good, but I could only imagine if Ashtonwould work out as hard as Demi Moore did for GI Jane, and then makeanother movie, how ultimately HOTTER he would look. I hope he readsthis and hits the gym with FULL FORCE! Go Ashton! Some Woman Named Teresa in Nebraska
In the late 1960's and early 1970's there were a string of wackyadventure comedies put out by Hollywood as 'B'Films. The first one thatcomes to mind is Allen and Rossi's 'Last of the Secret Agents' and thenthe Sammy Davis Jr and Peter Lawford 'Salt and Pepper' series. Therewas a very loose story which was usually introduced with a narrationfollowed by 'skits' where this and that happened and then an endingwhich usually came out of left field. If you have seen this picture youknow that the writer was familiar with that formula.I enjoyed it for what it is, but... I must agree with many of theposters here that we have seen little or no evidence of Mr. Kutcher'sacting skills to date. The lovable idiot from 'That 70's Show' becamethe lovable idiot in every film he has done (he tries not to play theidiot in this film, but the character is still an idiot).Kutcher isseems like such a likable person though I really want him to succeed, but I don't think I can watch him paper mache his way through a roleanymore, it is just not-solid and all sticky. The stand-out in this film is Catherine O'Hara. She is given absolutelynothing to do and yet she is by far the funniest person in the film. Her reactions to the events around her are scene stealing--that is ifone is to take their attention off the eye-candy of Kutcher and Heigl.
this is my review:story- it is very funny movie, but gets boring after a while. acting- the acting is almost perfect.it stars ashton kuthur( one the best actor actors ever).direction- it ok. but(agian)it gets boring visuals- its good
2 obnoxious no talent losers wasted 2 hrs of my life. I don't want them back. I just wanna forget they ever happened. For the sake of your brain, miss this garbage at all costs.
This was actually a disappointment because i was expecting some goodwork from all the good actors that were there in this movie.. So thecast was good, and the story line was fine too.The problem was, that igot this feeling that this movie was made in a rush or something..Itmight have been pretty decent if some changes were made during themaking of this movie.. First off,i was disappointed with the way themovie opens up..There was some good comedy but it doesn't make the badstuff go away(Which,to be frank, was a LOT). And the worst part was theending of the movie.Normally if some mediocre movie has a good endingit changes the overall attitude of the viewer towards it..so,this moviefor me didn't work.I WILL give it a 6 out of 10 though, and the reasonis, that i like both the main actors in the movie..
Our story begins with Jen(Katherine Heigl) travels to France with herparents(Tom Selleck and Catherine O'Hara) after recovering from abitter breakup. When she first gets there, she meets Spencer(AshtonKutcher), a handsome charming man, both instantly become smitten witheach other, fall in love and get married. Three years later they seemedto be settled in.Until someone has put a hit on Spencers life, Spencer didn't tell Jenabout his past, he was a C.I.A. assassin, until he met Jen, and quicklyrealized he wants out, and wants a normal life. With people trying tokill them left and right, and not knowing who to trust, will theysurvive and will there marriage too? Ashton Kutcher trying to do James Bond, and he does okay. KatherineHeigl is alright, but she wore out after a while. Tom Selleck andCatherine O' Hara are amusing. The action are fun, kind of like TheBourne Identity. It blend comedy, suspense, and action so perfectlywell together. Now my complaint is that there is a twist at the end, when you learned who ordered the hit, I won't say what it is, butruined the point of everything else for me. It served no purpose. Butthe rest of the film was entertaining.
I've seen this movie yesterday. It wasn't that bad.The movie is pretty entertaining till the end. I mean, you really wantto see what happens and then the end comes. Just when it getsinteresting and the real shooting starts, they are all stopped in areally stupid way. From the beginning of the movie you wait to see thatand when its finally the time, the movie is over. Lets say that theending would be OK it wouldn't be such a bad movie. But is reallyconfusing and silly. You leave the cinema with a felling of "cut thelast 15 minutes and make killers 2". To bad, it could be a great movie.
This review is from: Killers (DVD) I really enjoyed this movie. It was a lighthearted movie with lots of humor and some great action. Ashton Kutcher looked sexy as usual and did a great job as the male lead. Katherine Heigl was fabulous playing opposite Ashton as his wife. I thought they had a great chemistry, and their banter was fun as well as believable. If you're looking for a fun movie where you can escape from your everyday worries for an hour and a half, try this movie. I think you'll have a lot of fun watching it.
Heigl and Kutcher are 2 attractive people...and that's about all that stands out (her cleavage and his abs)... as their acting was very mediocre at best. This movie had great potential to be very funny, adventurous and intriguing but quite frankly just did not deliver. Too bad. If you haven't seen True Lies go rent it instead - its much more entertaining.
I have to say that when I first heard about this movie I thought that it had entertaining prospects. Boy was I wrong. It felt like a low budget party with all Ashton Kutcher's actor and comedy friends. Something of an impromptu skit with no production value whatsoever. The cast was miscast and the majority of actors just muddled through their terrible lines and select acting parts. Even the car chase scenes were lame, who can mess up a car chase now days? I found myself wishing they would catch and kill Ashton's charater and put him out of his misery. How can they produce such dribble? I throught that movie was a contest for who could perform the worst, and there were many in this movie that meet that bar. What was the deal with Catherine O'Hara? She could have gargled her lines with all the alcohol they were dumping down her. This movie was major tripe, so save your money for a better movie.
Yeah, Ashton Kutcher's a CIA agent. And I'm Pauline Kael.
A disjointed and unnecessarily lengthy comedy which has a number of flaws but still manages to garner enough laughs throughout to make it worth a watch.
I had high hopes for this movie - Katherine Heigl AND Ashton Kutcher in a spy/action/romantic comedy. Couldn't be bad, right? Wrong. The storyline was incredibly weak, and never really gets explained/resolved. The acting was ok, considering what they were given to go on, but after the 3rd or so person tried to kill them, I was pretty much done. Really the only reason this movie is worth watching is the screen time given to Ashton Kutcher and his incredible physique :-)
Bullets fly and jokes land with a thud.
Kutcher's reputation as a shrewd businessman just got knocked beneath the basement.
If you've already seen 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' and 'Knight & Day', thenthere's no need to see this one - you kinda already have. Just imaginethose two movies smashed together, weaken the script a bit, and thenyou will have 'Killers'. It's lack of originality is what brings thismovie down - there's nothing here we haven't seen a thousand timesbefore. The acting is so-so, nothing special at all, the pace is fastand forced, and the mood is light and shallow. If you're looking for amovie with even a tiny bit of depth, this isn't it. If you're reallybored and unfocused, and need a movie that you can watch with yourbrain pretty much turned off - this is it. I did enjoy parts of themovie, but none were of much quality.
For someone so classically handsome, Kutcher is surprisingly anticharismatic as a star. A smarmy grin and looking good while shirtless does not equal screen presence, dude.
Killers, I am certain, is a film which is going to irritate all thosewho are not easily pleased, because it is stuffed to the gills withmajor unlikelinesses. Fortunately, I am easily pleased, and I quiteenjoyed it. But it's a bit of a weird one.Gorgeous, intelligent, funny Jen (Ketherine Heigl) has just been dumpedby her nerd boyfriend and joins her affluent parents (uptight controlfreak Tom Selleck and alcoholic Catherine O'Hara) on holiday in Nice. While checking in at the hotel she bumps into Spencer (Ashton Kutcher),a CIA assassin who has decided to quit, although his controller tellshim that he can't leave just like that. They fall in love and we rollforward 3 years to a point where they are enjoying conventional marriedlife in small-town USA. Then Spencer's controller resurfaces. Spencerrejects his summons and, all of a sudden, pretty nearly everyoneSpencer knows turns out to be a would-be assassin looking to collect avast bounty on Spencer's head. This understandably alarms Jen, and thelast half of the movie is an extended action sequence as the two ofthem escape countless attempts on Spencer's life while wondering whatto do next, until the final - and very silly - explanation andresolution.I cannot overemphasise the vast improbability of nearly every elementof this film, not to mention the many unanswered questions (not leastof which is what happened to all the dead bodies littering the townwhere they live). The light rom-com in the early part of the film -which is well done, incidentally - doesn't sit easily with the genuinejeopardy in which the two find themselves, and the occasional laughsseeded into the otherwise straight action sequences feel weird.Katherine Heigl does comedy well, and is always pleasing to look at,and there is a bit of - 'ow you say? - cleavage oriented eye candy forthe chaps. This is balanced out by Ashton Kutcher's abs, on display forthe girls. Kutcher makes a decent fist of Spencer, Tom Selleck playsJen's father nicely against type, and Catherine O'Hara is funny asmother, although her disastrous drinking is a) played for laughs and b)never commented on.But if you like your movies to be credible, stay away from this one.
This is a fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. A spy assassin dude tries to give up his life to marry a girl who is tight with her alcoholic mother and controlling father (played by Tom Selleck). There's a nice homage to the MAGNUM P.I. mustache and all those crazy spy action comedies from the old days. Just about everyone you would think would not turn out to be an assassin turns out to be one. It's definitely over the top so again if you try to compare this to a serious drama you will be disappointed. The main characters have a somewhat good to good chemistry. The trash talking on Ashton K is unfounded. CHARACTERS/DIALOGUE: B; STORY/PLOTTING: B minus to B; HUMOR: B minus to B; MY GRADE: B minus to B; WHEN WATCHED: end of June 2011.
Certainly no worse - faint praise alert - than your average sitcom.
