We have taken some photos of "Kites aka Brett Ratner Presents Kites: The Remix (HD)".
They represent actual movie quality.
'Kites' was specifically made to appeal to Western sensibilities--it's not the first Bollywood film to try to crossover, but it is the first to succeed at it, and it does so while remaining true to the essence of Hindi cinema. 'Kites' looks like an American film, but it feels like an Indian one. It's not the best Bollywood movie--not by a long shot--but by stripping itself of the typical trappings of Hindi films (and making itself stylistically familiar to Westerners), it reveals the heart of Bollywood--a beating, bleeding operatic heart. Hindi cinema is ultimately not about language or culture or musical numbers; it's about exalted melodrama that draws you in despite yourself and affects you with life's corniness and agony. The story is set in Las Vegas; the actors speak a combination of Hindi, English, and Spanish; there is only one dance scene; and the plot follows a single sequence of events--all of which help make the film accessible to non-Indian audiences. Director Anurag Basu was the perfect choice for this project as his style naturally lends itself to the objective. Had his previous film, 'Life in a...Metro' (2007), been marketed abroad as aggressively as 'Kites' has been, it would have garnered the same critical praise in the U.S that his latest film has. Cinematographer Ayananka Bose produces sharp, gorgeous shots of the glitz of Las Vegas, the desolation of the desert, and the beauty of the leads, Indian superstar Hrithik Roshan and Mexican actress Barbara Mori.Roshan and Mori play struggling immigrant hustlers Jay and Linda, who are about to marry into money--they are engaged to sister and brother Gina (Kangana Ranaut) and Tony (Nick Brown), the children of a ruthless crime boss/casino owner (Kabir Bedi). The night before Linda's wedding to Tony, she and Jay stay up until dawn drinking champagne, sharing their tales of woe in a broken hodgepodge of languages, and dancing in the rain. And after one brief, trembling, feel-it-in-your-toes, forbidden kiss, they foolishly, nobly chuck their gold-digging schemes for each other.Even in love scenes devoid of explicit sex, Roshan is expert at appearing to teeter on the edge of control, and his precarious desire is hotter than bared skin could ever be (see his performances in 'Dhoom 2' and 'Jodhaa Akbar' for more examples)--although bare his skin he does--at least, his eye-popping torso--in between exciting stunts and car chases, as the lovers flee Tony, who's hell-bent on murderous revenge, and adorably struggle to communicate along the way.'Kites' proves it is possible to fall in love--with people or films--even when you can't understand their language. 'Kites' is rated Must See.- The Bollywood Ticket: The American guide to Indian movies (Subscribe: The Bollywood Ticket)
My entire theater was laughing when Hrithik was crying...What the heckhappened to having logic and reason in a movie? Did they just decide towrite this movie while they were high? (and flying kites) This wassimply a great example of some amateur director with no directingskills given all the money he wants to spend. But still, it got my 11$and I'm sure since it's hyped up so much most people will go at leastonce. After the movie ended, my sister was laughing so hard she hadtears in her eyes. That explains how pointless and lifeless this moviewas. This seems like a movie simply for making money using a glamorousMexican model twist. The action was decent however, even though again, logic and physics defying. I'm also afraid the director preferredHrithik's flexed body over the Mexican actress.
My review is for the 130 minute Indian version. Some of the reactions that I observed in the theater. At the 80 minutemark, the person adjacent to me is whispering in a tired voice "Oh myGod! how much more time is the movie going to last?" At the end of themovie, I saw a group of friends waking one of their friends. There areuniform sighs of disappointment from the audience by the time endcredits started rolling. You may guess now in which direction thisreview is going to be.I saw the trailer of Kites a couple of months ago and was not at allimpressed by it. So I went to the screening with a bit of lowexpectations. But the movie was worse than my already lowerexpectations. If the purpose of the movie is to entertain the audience, then themovie failed miserably. The romance between the leads appeared veryforced to me. I love love stories but this romance didn't touch myheart at all. Baring a couple of scenes, the comedy too appeared as ifit is placed because it has to be there. As far as the actionssequences goes, I don't know how many of my fellow movie lovers feltthey are good but I felt more thrilled while playing NFS than watchingthese action pieces. Since when does American police cars have becomecrackers which explode at the slightest crash? Every day you can see atleast one movie in HBO or Star Movies whose action sequences are betterthan these. Are there many dance sequences in the movie? Nope. There isone at the beginning which by now should have been present at YouTubeor some other such site.I couldn't believe that 4 people are involved with the story andscreenplay. I can guess their initial thought process here. RakeshRoshan got the idea about a love story where the lovers don'tunderstand each other's language. Then he commissioned others and theywanted to make this love story an epic with great romance and greataction. But neither of them, especially the romance part is not at allinteresting and the worse thing is that it is boring. I think that onevery page of the script, there is only a poster of Hrithik and how tocash his name and nothing else. Basically what you have in the movie isa romantic scene - action scene - romantic scene - action scene. Aftera while it really is a torturous experience to hear the dialog betweenHrithik and Barbara and I was thinking "Oh no! not another romanticdialog please".You know your supporting cast acting was bad when Kabir Bedi gives arobotic performance. It is also time for Kangana Ranaut to say no tosuch repeat roles of psychologically damaged woman. This is someserious talent caught in an image which is damaging the career. So what are the good points of the movie. Undoubtedly Hrithik Roshan. This is a Hrithik show allover & he is fantastic. Nobody in hisgeneration in Bollywood has his screen presence. In the single dancesequence of the movie, he dances superlatively. His performance is alsovery good. Much has been written about Barbara Mori. She is beautifulno-doubt and she is good in her role. The music is average fare but thecinematography is good.I strongly think that it is high time Hrithik comes out of his'khandaani' films (films that have anything to deal with Rakesh Roshan)and select some good subjects outside. It feels bad to see the wastageof such a talent. Most of his films depend on his style but style istemporary. I'm very sure that Mithun Chakraborty was a style icon in80s but who cares about his films and style now except the judges andcontestants of Dance India Dance. The style of Hrithik is going to beoutdated in 20 years and so would be films such as this or Dhoom seriesbecause by then more trendy movies and some other cool hunk willappear. One should admire Ranbir Kapoor for his job as far as selectingthe movies is considered. This movie is strictly for girls or gays who are absolutely delirious &crazy about Hrithik. Since I am neither of those, Kites didn't work forme at all. A movie could be anything but boring which Kites sadly is. Ireally hope that the 90 minute international version being releasednext week isn't as boring as this although I'm not very optimisticabout it.
Indian audience and critics are way behind when it comes to reviewing amovie and whether its good or not...This is shown from the reactions toKITES... I really loved d movie and found it so good that I feel likewatching it again and again...and YES I have seen the movie 3times..Hrithik is mind blowing as always..I just want to say that thosewho think that its a boring movie those people really have no idea howto rate a movie...If u believe in love and think it to b the ultimateimp aspect of your life then you should love the movie..and if u don'tthen sorry folks u r d most unluckiest people in this whole world...Currently I am waiting for 28th May when the KITES the Remix hits thetheater...Will book the tickets in advance..I would like to add one thing nd this comes straight from the heart..Iam really privileged and honored that I could see the magnificent moviein a theater and that too in my generation...
So here I'm out of theatre watching this year's one of the keenlyawaited film of the bollywood in Hindi version and predicting thatneither the mass nor the class will like it and it would be surely boxoffice disaster if mouth publicity will reach quite early to theaudience. Now let me tell you first why mass won't like it: Number one it'slifeless and without any sort of substance in story or presentation inanything conventional or non conventional. Almost 70 % of the film isin mixture of Spanish-English and the common audience hasn't yetcultivated the habit to follow Hindi subtitles throughout the film tounderstand a simple routine love story. Remember K. Balachander's 'EkDuuje Ke Liye' where two lovers don't understand their regional lingoended their lives at sea shore and we feel so sad for poor Vasu andSapna in our first viewing. This poor version severely fails to deliverany intensity to the pairs of lovers. By the way are they lovers isstill a big question. Nobody care a damn for the ill fated pair ofglamorous desi-international kites even in tragic end here The filmdon't have a single peppy Hrithik dance number (for which he's quitepopular) nor fine action sequence (showing car chase isn't actionsequence in my opinion esp. when it seems so ridiculous) And so its not'paisa vasool entertainment' even for popcorn money, forget theticket!!!Now let me come to class audience who join cinema hall to watch it forDirector Anurag Basu whose last film 'Metro' was really impressive. Thescreenplay, tug of tangled emotions and lifelike characters made his'Metro' quite near to heart. Here Basu quite miserably fails to deliverany of these things. It's in the second half where film startsirritating you to the limit till the end. Basu-Roshan Inc. tries tomake it an international product with Spanish actress, foreign localesfocusing style and nothing else. The film randomly copied the sequencesof Hollywood films from 'Casino', 'Bonnie & Clyde' to 'Road toPerdition.' Why don't they copied the whole films for that matter,Bhatt camp is at least doing that for common audience!! PoorBollywood!!! Creativity and originality is questionable affair inbollywood. The only thing worthy of attention its Hrithik and Barbara's chemistrywhich looks so immensely beautiful on screen but hell they're supposedto!!! But what about performance, well the director and producer papadon't care much about it. I doubt Hrithik's style and charisma won'twork this time. Though I must say its Spanish beauty Barbara Mori whosepresence with all her innocent and natural expressions let you bear thefilm till the end. Thank god the film is just two hours affair I'madding one more point for that in ratings. Highly Not Recommended.Ratings- 4/10 (Watch it at your own risk!)
Kites takes its name from the notion of two beings seemingly carefreewithout a worry, dancing in the sky in their freedom, only that theharsh reality of life meant someone else is pulling the strings fromdown below, making them nothing but mere puppets in the whole scheme ofthings that is called Life. So sets the premise of star crossed loverswho have to jump through plenty of hoops just to get together, andgiven that romances usually tug at your heartstrings when they make youfeel and shed a tear for the characters. But in true blue Bollywood fashion, there's always a little time forsong and dance, since Jay is a drifter in Las Vegas trying to carve aliving through 1001 jobs, with the one he loves most being a danceinstructor which doesn't pay a lot, and supplementing his incomethrough green-card schemes by marrying illegal immigrants in a scam setup by his friend Robin (Anand Tiwari). As chance would have it, daddy'srich girl Gina (Kangana Ranaut who disappears to make way for Mori) hasthe hots for Jay, and the latter only reciprocating because of hermoney and legacy of her casino-owning father.Enter Natasha, the fiancé of Gina's brother Tony (Nicholas Brown), whoalso is set to marry the casino scion for the sake of money, never mindhis constant ill-treatment and bad temper, and soon we have everythingset up for the lovers Jay and Natasha, who go way back because of thatgreen-card scam, to decide if they will risk everything, includingtheir initial prime motivations of striking it rich the easy way, fortrue love, despite not being able to communicate directly exceptthrough broken, halting English phrases, since she's Mexican, and himIndian.Told in non-linear fashion separating two timelines present and pastthrough a series of flashbacks, this technique actually managed to drawplenty of emotions at the last major sequence where all is revealedabout a key character, which is delivered brilliantly so much so thatyou'll be hard pressed not to reach for a tissue. It's shot in apeculiar fashion as well though with plenty of close ups on itsbeautiful leads, that offers plenty of opportunity to milk thosesymmetrical facial expressions in a very in-your-face fashion, which Isuppose nobody in the audience will mind having to gaze at good lookersanyhow.Hrithik Roshan's performance is almost flawless, but somehow I feltthat his Jay is one of his weakest cinematic personas thus far.Opportunities to show his toned body comes by the by the bucketloads(and makes those struggling to fight flab extremely envious), and sodoes the chance to dance, being one of the best dancers Bollywood hasto offer. He demonstrates once again he's Mr Flexible, and his dancenumber opposite Kangana Ranaut actually sizzles, with Ranaut actuallyshowing that she can dance to the demands of a Hindi film heroine. The revelation of the film though, as I mentioned, still belonged tothe charismatic presence of Barbara Mori, who is likely to gain plentyof adoring fans from the Indian continent for her heartfelt portrayalas the drop dead gorgeous heroine who's vulnerable, yet able to showwho's boss by wearing the pants in the relationship. She's no flowervase, having to take charge most of the time especially when Roshan'sJay goes into puppy dog mode, and frankly, in my opinion, her Natashahas him all wrapped up around her little finger. Mori makes thecharacter believable, has moments where she injects natural comedy, andpossessing a smile that is able to disarm the most stern of demeanour.I'm certain that most reviewers will find positivity from herperformance even if they somehow adopt a lukewarm response to the hypesurrounding the film which is basically a simple love story told in aroundabout manner.Even if it clocks in at 130 minutes which is short by Bollywoodstandards, Anurag Basu still managed to throw in so many sub plot andelements into the film, that it pretty much travels at breakneck speedfrom start to finish unfolding in quite an expected manner. Actionsequences in the film somehow had a ring of familiarity to them, andsadly none of them excites or puts you at the edge of your seat, beingnothing more than peripheral for the major love story. Basu seemed tochampion cars smashing against cars followed by noisy explosions, andexploits this so much that it becomes generic and a formulaic yawn. Theaction sequences needed to be more imaginative, just as how mainvillain Tony has to be more than a one-dimensional caricature to add tothat sense of menace and danger. It's reported that two versions of the film were shot simultaneously, one with the language predominantly in English, while the other inHindi, the former for the Hollywood and Western markets. So enterdirector Brett Ratner who's re-editing it for a more "international"audience which promises no dance sequences and a lot more sensualscenes than what's shown here (where a simple kiss can raise eyebrows),while yet keeping true to the nature of the story, with Hrithik Roshaneven moved by this version. I don't mind sitting through another roundactually, just to compare and evaluate if the Ratner version issuperior. Here's hoping the DVD will come with both!
I really enjoyed this movie, I do think it could have been better if some parts would've been edited out. The movie starts with a bang and keeps getting better. I have seen it.....I would estimate 5 times and the movie is just better when you watch it for a second time. I recommend Kites for viewers who are interested in seeing something unconventional. This movie really appealed to me because I like Bollywood, I'm Mexican, and because I speak both Spanish and English. This movie should have been released in Mexican theaters.
One of the finest film from bollywood which can touch the worldaudience, fall in love with it. Very happy & why i give 10 bcoz finallyi can ask my frndz2 watch a Indian movie. All of my friend from hereare not interested to watch a bollywood movie bcoz of few things, butnow they will love it if they watch KITES. Some wonderful acting, greatmusic, stunning dance by H, thriller, great cinematography and so on. Idon't know why some people here are critical about this movie?? May betheir personal opinion but as a Indian i am very proud about this movie& this film will certainly open the door of world audience for theIndian cinema. I am not a fan of Huge fan of H but after seen thismovie i am fall in love with him, he is really awesome, amazinglytalented. I love Barbara also she is really hot like Salma Hayek. Ireally like this movie very much. I can say fall in love with it. Gowatch it, complete entertainer. May be one of the biggest film ofIndian cinema. I can assure you one thing if you are not HR fan orneither fan of Indian cinema go watch it, you will love it. Thank u somuch Roshan Sir., Anurag & HR+BARBARA. My love for all of you. BigHug.........................................................
I had a misfortune of watching the painful Hindi version of this movie.Anurag Basu proved how bad he really is with this movie. The onlyhighlight about the movie is Hrithik and Barbara. What a waste oftalent and money. What was Hrithik thinking? Why did he choose thismoronic script when he claims to be very choosy?- There was a scene ripped off from 'Road to Perdition' - Anurag wanted a Titanic kind of effect with the last scene but manypeople burst into laughter. Most scenes did not have the effect heintended to create. It was all disconnected and dry- The director got bored and started blowing up cop cars. He made theaudience pay for your stupid childhood fantasies- A simple request to all of you: Do not judge Bollywood based on thisstupid movie. There are plenty of really good 'commercial' moviesavailable on netflix with English subtitles you can enjoy.
With the glittering spectacle of Las Vegas as its backdrop, the Bollywood film "Kites" got a better than average U.S. distribution upon its release relative to other films of its type. Consequently, it stands as one of the highest grossing Bollywood stories shown in mainstream American theaters and even broke into the box office Top Ten for the week of its debut. It certainly seems appropriate as this hybrid tale of romance, music, action and heightened drama clearly takes its plotting influence from Westernized big budget films. "Kites" doesn't aim for realism, far from it! It is a bold, colorful and glossy film product that shuffles together several genres, adds two appealing leads, splashes in some stylized romanticism and a dash of charm and emerges as a crowd pleaser. This truly international tale of lovers on the run features performances in English, Spanish, and Hindi as well as variations and combinations of each. Sure, it may be a bit overstuffed and chaotic at times--but it is grandly entertaining! The primary plot point is pure romance novel pulp. A streetwise Vegas hustler does whatever is necessary to bring in the cash. While romancing the daughter of a wealthy and dangerous casino boss, he becomes entangled with her brother's beautiful fiance. This begins a chain reaction with dire consequences. Seeking retribution, the hot headed brother relentlessly pursues the young lovers with vengeance and murder on his mind. With some pretty ridiculous (in an entertaining way) car chases, a couple of shoot-em-ups, and some double crosses--"Kites" kicks into action mode as the chase heads toward the border. Never fear, though, the sweethearts have plenty of opportunities for chaste canoodling, sassy banter, and a musical montage or two. Fans expecting star Hrithik Roshan to showcase some hot dance moves may be disappointed that there is only one such number near the beginning of the film--but really, how much would you want to dance if you were taking bullets? Will the couple escape? Is is happily ever after or bittersweet sorrow? You'll just have to tune in. The film is layered into alternating timelines that heighten the mystery which unravels to reveal the lovers' fate. This is a wild and fun ride with moments of quiet tenderness, sweeping melodrama, silly humor, and over-the-top action mayhem. Really a great popcorn flick--this is entertainment for the sake of entertainment and not meant to be taken very seriously. Roshan and co-star Barbara Mori are immensely appealing and pretty easy on the eyes as well. Even when the film veers into wacky territory, the pair keep you grounded. The film is gorgeous to look at as well--with the Blu-ray, it is exceptionally vivid and colorful. The DVD set contains the original version AND what is referred to as a Hollywood version. I'm not exactly sure why someone would be interested in a Brett Ratner supervised alternate cut of the movie as opposed to the director's vision. The Hollywood edition is thirty minutes shorter, loses much of the sweetness and musicality, and highlights the action set pieces. It mystifies me, quite literally, but if you want it--you've got it. My advice, though, stick with the original and true version of "Kites." It has charm to spare and achieves real heights of operatic melodrama! KGHarris, 2/11.
People who give a bad review to this movie don't know what they aretalking about. If you are ready to accept an out of the box movie witha very well told story, don't miss this. This movie is not for the people who need to be explained every littledetail like kids. Good action scenes with romance and a few instances of natural comedy. This movie shows that bollywood has matured and is a step in the rightdirection. Hrithik and the Spanish lady are excellent and have a verygood chemistry.Rakesh Roshan's movies are always different but most of them fail, thisdoesn't. I would have given this a 10 if some escape scenes with copswould not have shown the cops to be totally outsmarted. That was theonly flaw i found with the movie. If you like happy go lucky ending, then u may not like the last 10 mins. I don't have that problem so iliked it start to finish.
Kites is a tale about J an Indian origin guy and Linda an Mexicanorigin who meet in las Vegas and are destined to fall in love with eachother. Though sometime it has uncanny resemblances of EK DUJE KE LIYEit is presented in modern way which suits today's audiences.Gina is a daughter of las Vegas casino owner played by Kabir Bedi. sheis madly in love with J who happens to be his dance teacher . j who isa street smart guy who finds many way to make money like giving danceclasses , doing fake marriages . Gina one day proposes him and Jaccepts her proposal knowing she is a very rich girl. Little had heknown that his destiny awaited him in Gina house. J happen to meetLinda in Gina house where he remember that she was one among 11 girl hehad fake marriages with. .during there meet they get attracted to eachother and fell in love with each other. Linda happens to be fiancé ofGina brother who mistreat her every time. One day circumstances make J and Linda to run away from their respectedpartner to whom they never loved. Thus start the chase. And also beginsthe journey of their love. Kites is basically a intense love story with an ordinary story that hasresemblances of movies in 70s , but still the movie is executed well.Hrithik has done an excellent job as J . Barbara has too done a finejob .Nick brown as Gina brother tony is surely a new find has done goodjob. Kananga is sidelined in the movie which is very odd. Anurag Basu as a director excel and as executed the film very well .The highlight of the movie is Ayananka Bose cinematography which hasrich texture. Music by Rajesh Roshan is good but do not stick with ufor a long time. On the whole kites is a good movie. chemistry between Hrithik andBarbara is good but does not goes too well with Indian audiences asthere is lot of English and Spanish dialogs and Indians are not thatfamiliar to subtitle versions of movie culture.I give it 7+1 rating and plus one for Hrithiks brilliant performer asan actor, dancer and as singer as well. 8/10
This review is from: Kites [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) This little seen gem is better than any Michael Bay film released. There are two different versions on this blu-ray; the original and a recut version.
I have watched a movie with Hrithik Roshan not some long time ago, and he is a brilliant actor and dancer.n thismovie, 2 people fell in love, and although they were both in seek formoney, they realize love is more important than everything else and thefight for each other.Acting of both lead is so amazing, u can feel their emotion..he speaksIndian and English ,and she speaks Spanish, so thay cannot understandeach other perfectly, but there is a language of love. This movie is worth watching every minute, u will be amazed bybeautiful cinematography and beautiful story, not like other Indianmovies..beautiful, beautiful movie...
This was a great movie that was full of action, drama and excitement. It's a shame that it wasn't in the US theaters for very long. That's okay, because now I can reserve it through Amazon and get a copy of my very own as soon as it's released. I can't wait to watch it again and share it with my friends! :o)
Kites was an excellent cinematic experience. It is a landmark filmwhich can cross and i think already crossed the international markets.Kites has a simple story with a fascinatingly beautiful soul. Twolovers and their strife for peace and bonding, when none understandsthe other's language. Kudos to Anurag Basu for keeping this movie awayfrom bollywood clichés and giving it a truly international treatment, unlike some other filmmakers out there who produce so called 'crossovercinema' which turns out to be quite the converse. The length is crispand though the second half could've been better, the amazing chemistrybetween Hrithik and Barbara keeps you riveted till the very end.Flawless acting by the leads. Excellent cinematography. Breathtakingaction sequences. And chemistry between Hrithik and Barbara justhypnotizes you to watch the film. The only thing that can be improvedin the movie is the climax. And I think if you cut the the last 2minutes of the movie its a worth watch..
I wonder how critics and viewers make such negative review of thismovie.. It is pretty well watchable and worthy.. I think most of Indians hated it because,it mostly contains English andSpanish, and the viewers didn't get the languages.. If you didn'tunderstand the movie just watch it with subtitles.. I'm notdisappointed by this film and i feel worth of time and money..I heard that Brett Ratner's version much good than this .. I want togive it a try, But i cant find it in any video store.. It is a feelgood movie with Romance Comedy Action..Hritik action is good with his physic and dance.. If the length ofmovie is reduced to 1hr:40min (deleting songs except "FIRE" would doit)it would be definitely a classic..I liked the ending also very much.. There are two parallel stories in the plot.. one is Hritik searches forhis sweet heart in Mexican deserts and second one is the playback ofhis past life ..wow what a plot.. I recommend this movie to everyone , Definitely a excellent flick Ifyou are a true movie lover then you must give it a try .. I think most of the people will like it.. all people must support this movie , because It is the first step ofmaking the bollywood into another HollywoodPlease just don't make such Negative reviews for this good Experimentalfilm by Indians..My Rating 9/10
Hrithik Roshan's movies have gained the stature of uncommon events asof late. His last release came when I was in my second year and now Iam nearing my graduation. All said, this guy doesn't disappoint a bit.Kites has a simple story with a fascinatingly beautiful soul. The length is crispand though the second half could've been better, the amazing chemistrybetween Hrithik and Barbara keeps you riveted till the very end.In performances, Hrithik is quite the maverick at his cool conmanturned lover act. Effortlessly oozing charisma, he has indeed kept uptohis fans' expectations. Barbara is a delight. Unlike other foreignmodels who come to India for the skin show and currently rule the roostso as to say, she is beautiful yet articulate throughout the movie. Thesupporting cast is able.Technically, this has to be one of the best movies I have seen. RakeshRoshan as always has left no stone unturned to give kites aninternational look. The cinematography is awesome with quite a lot ofcamera work a-la Guy Ritchie genre movies. The background score issoothing like a gush of cool breeze, and especially the end is verywell done. I might get a chance to catch the international version aswell, and if I do, no probs with watching Kites again!
I like the movie. It ain't bad like others describe. Ever triedwatching Babel. You know there are times when we've gotta be impetuousand need to have some adrenaline rush. It feels good. There are someguys who only want some family sentiment, some monkey dance, and happyending. They are hypocrites. They wanna live far from reality. Somebodysaid that Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but bythe number of moments that take our breath away. This movie followsthis rhythm. Sometimes everything is not happy and despair does teachus guide us in a new path. The performances are good and the chemistry is good. Hrithik shouldhave bettered himself in some scenes like at the bar & making jokeswhile robbing a bank. There are some goofs though. Barbara is gorgeousand performance is good. Anurag has done good job. But, the only faultis that they should n't have released in India. Like I said, they wantsome monkey dances and some nonsensical goof romancing with a stupidchick and some opposition from parents and happy ending. It takes fewmore ages to let them grow out of it.Overall, It has some adrenaline rush, romance & good ending.I would give 8/10 as its made by an Indian trying to catch up with theworld cinema or more simply real cinema.
This movie gets four stars, which it deserves. One point for theinteresting and vibrant locations, one point for the songs andbackground music, one for the action scenes, and one for HrithikRoshan. The introduction of the story is the usual, as you would expect. Set inAmerica, Jay (Hrithik Roshan) is here to make some money, but failseach time he tries. Enter Gina (Kangana Ranaut) who says she loves him,but he turns her down. What he doesn't know is that shes one of therichest people in the city. Stunned at his luck, he goes back and asksher to be his dance partner for the upcoming competition. She agrees, and they become closer. Now, when Gina's dad meets Jay, he asks him to attend his son Tony'sengagement, and that is where the story makes some progress. He meetshis wife that he married for green card.. Natasha (Barbara Mori) orknown as Linda. From there on, its pretty much predictable. The love, the action ,everything looks as if its straight out of a Hollywoood movie. BarbaraMori does pretty well, Hrithik Roshan acts well but is just alright, though his dance moves are impressive. Kangana Ranaut is a hugesurprise. The PROBLEM with this movie is not the story, but with the way thestory is portrayed on screen. If they focused on one thing rather thanthree, the movie would have worked. There are three main conflicts.Gina and Jay, Tony and Natasha, and of course, their love story. If only one of these was focused on, it might have worked. The ending,is also pathetic. You think to yourself "what the hell is going on" Asafter you walk out of the movie theater, you realize that ending madeno sense at all.Worth watching once.
