Last Night (2010)You might think a movie about a couple on the verge of having affairson the side would be good stuff just because it's so much part of lifefor so many of us. And this starts with the promise that our leadingman and woman, Sam Worthington and Keira Knightley, will have enoughnuance, guts, anger, complication, and acting prowess to make it even alittle bit special. Not quite. Knightley, away from her more usual period sets ("Atonement"and Jane Austen movies come to mind), is a really likable and ordinarygirl, really. And she does have presence on the screen, lighting up andhaving some nuance to her expressions. She holds up her end of thisset-up pretty well. Worthington, less so, for sure, though you mightargue that this is supposed to be a really everyday couple, regularfolk like you and me. Still, he has to make it worthwhile (or elsewe'll just talk to our cheating friends for entertainment). And then there are the other halves of the potential affairs--the womanWorthington's character mostly wants but wants to resist, and the manthe Knightley has previously been involved with and who she finds stillprovocative. But both of these secondary characters are drawnsuperficially and acted either without fire (Eva Mendes) or with drippyemptiness (Guillaume Canet). Most of all, with all this cast and with expensive filming (theproduction values are good, the photography quietly expert--watch thecareful focus at times), the story is just too simple. All we have, without giving away a thing, are these two parallel worlds, the man whomay or may not sleep with this woman (who does want him to), and thewoman who may or may not, etc. etc.In fact, the main couple has a chance to really deal with theirtemptations, and either lying or confessing, and with maybe findingsimilarities in having temptation not only at their fingertips butclawing at them without respect or regard. But no, just as somethingmight come around, there is silence. And the end of the movie. I thinkit's supposed to be striking and profound--that life just keeps goingand we all have our inner secrets--but what's so interesting or newabout that? I was much more taken with Clive Owen blowing up and reallytalking and thinking out loud when he found his wife, Julia Roberts, had cheated on him in "Closer." A deflating experience after a promising start.
OK, what is going on please? Here is an excellent, skilfully crafted, intelligently paced and well structured movie with a most complimentaryscreenplay, and it should of course be rated at 8.x out of 10. Yet, asI write it is barely rated above average. Sorry, but I have to knockmyself on the head a couple of times just to check that I am now indeedonly seeing 6.7 out of ten for a most excellent relationship themedmovie.I am not at all sure what is wrong with most people who've rated thismovie "a notch above so so", save for the usual obvious problems whenit comes to matters of 'most people'... Nonetheless, I am reminded thatmost people often get it right: Matchpoint was correctly rated, TwoLovers was fairly rated, Before Sunrise also got the high rating it sodeserved. However, here is a movie which is every bit as excellent asthose named movies, albeit being in its own inimitable way different, yet it is still currently (Spring 2011) faced with the travesty ofbeing so unjustly under-appreciated.Please watch this movie if the themes of modern relationships, loyalty, trust, and betrayal are of any interest to you, and you should find, asI did, that its insanely 'above average rating' is well short of themark. For this movie is a near masterpiece as a study of such themes. The performances of the lead actors/actresses, its screenplay, direction, score, production are all first rate. Don't miss this movieif you've a brain in your head, and if themes concerning relationshipsare of any interest to you at all. I also rated Matchpoint, BeforeSunrise, & Two Lovers very highly, in case you're wondering if my wordis worth following. Then you should also find it to be worth a far morerealistic 9/10
This is not a terrible movie. At times it captures both marital and sexual tension in subtle ways. However, some of the dialogue is unrealistic (say, when Keira Knightley says to her former lover after two minutes, "Tell me something that counts"), and the film as a whole doesn't have enough substance to fill 95 minutes. I'd think of it as a short story trying to masquerade as a novel. The overall effect is something akin to a tease: Will they be unfaithful, or won't they? The question is fine, but by the end, you don't care that much because the film hasn't revealed any fine nuances beyond what you get in the first 10-15 minutes. Sam Worthington is a little like a statue in heat: You can somehow tell that he wants Eva Mendes, but he's so wooden that he's almost funny.
My friend and i really liked this interesting character study about trust and when a relationship loses it , well then the relationship has little chance of success. For an indie movie, it sure didn't look like it. The cinematography and back round music was great. It was a small but effective cast. Keira Knightly was the star though. It shows what a versatile actress she is.The rest of the cast was good also. I liked the ending as it will lead to discussion with whomever you see it with.
This review is from: Last Night (Amazon Instant Video) You've gotta be kidding me I know, I know happy endings belong to Walt Disney and that's where the magic happens. I found the movie honest and done in a respectable way.(As not a lot of skin but actors really using talent to portray a message.) It's real and somehow deep. You see the struggle of partners but also internal self worth and the value the put into each other. Although I'm sure some will say the message is how far will you go, i think the message is a lot simpler. It's about honesty on all levels and if you can't find it in yourself stop expecting to see it in someone else.
This movie is one of few I am going to watch again. Actually, I can'twait to have my own copy.I could agree that the storyline is not most original ever but this isthe movie you watch not to see pictures but to feel sensibility. Iimagine if you were never involved in that kind situation it could behard to catch the sight of the pain, misery and suffering. However I amnot sure about the character of Keira Knightley. I believe she is agreat actor but the character she played was ambiguous. In some scenesshe acted like an easy-going girl who considers her ex-love like somefun but later you see how much it hurts to her.I cant understand what type of girl the authors wanted to make of Eva'sMendes' character. When she told a story about random incidents lettingdecide her behavior she looks like fragile and unsure girl but later icould call her quite a bitch. However I would like to believe that sheshould feel quite guilty about falling in love with a married man.I was expecting the character of Sam Worthington to be firmer. On theother hand then he would look like malignant cheater however he was thevictim of circumstances.I never saw Guillaume Canet before this movie and I was excited abouthis likeliness to McDreamy Patrick Dempsey. His playing was perfect, heexpressed his feeling in such a persuasively way and he deserved thename of McDreamy.I was both happy and unhappy about the end of the movie. Any end casewould have called lots of objections and discontent. However I wasexpecting it would tell what is the right end in that type of stories. As you may guess there is no right end. And the movie gives you muchpotential to think.
I generally find the romantic dramas boring, because besides of thefact that they use to abuse of the same clichés over and over again, their intention of touching us or making us cry feels even more forcedand dishonest when it is not well handled, which is what happens inmost of the cases. However, I decided to watch Last Night because I hadsome free time. To my surprise, I ended up liking the movie very muchbecause of its detailed narrative, two brilliant performances and fordaring itself to raise interesting questions about the marriage, thefaithfulness, and the responsibilities from a couple. One of the things I most liked from Last Night is that the screenplaydoes not stay on the simple level of a moralistic fable, but thatinstead of that, it involves us gradually on the game of emotions, circumstances and decisions which will influence in the couple'sdestiny. The rhythm from Last Night is slow (but never boring), and thespectators who expect to find the runaway melodrama from films likeCloser and Eyes Wide Shut might feel unsatisfied with it. On theopposite, Last Night focuses its attention on the smalldetails...Joanna's expression when she imagines the road her life couldhave taken if she had stayed in Paris; the poaching looks from Michaelto Laura...what I wanna say with this is that Last Night is not acathartic soap opera melodrama, but a methodic and intelligentcharacter study with an emotional minimalism and thematic clarity. And we also have the extraordinary performances from Keira Knightleyand Sam Worthington. I think that Knightley brought her bestperformance so far in here, because of the amazing conviction andaplomb she shows in her character. As for Worthington, he shows a muchwider histrionic range than the one he displayed in the action andadventure films Terminator Salvation, Avatar and the remake of Clash ofthe Titans, and I hope to see him in more dramatic roles. Eva Mendesand Guillaume Canet also bring solid performances, but Knightley andWorthington definitely steal the show with their fantastic works.Considering that the romantic dramas generally bore me, the fact thatLast Night kept me fascinated from the beginning to the end, and leftme thinking once it was over, is something remarkable. In conclusion, Iconsider this film worthy of an enthusiastic recommendation because, leaving a few moments of a slight pretension aside, this is abrilliantly written, solidly directed and perfectly acted film.
I remember watching the preview when Eva Mendez was on the Jimmy Fallonshow. I really didn't think much of it. I stumbled on it while killingtime and found myself watching it twice in one day. It opened upavenues of topics between my husband and me. I think this movie is goodfor couples to watch. The director and actors did a wonderful job. Thebody language in the movie was so telling. The dialog was real, ittouch areas, we as couples otherwise would not talk about. Throughoutthe movie I found myself questioning myself, wondering perhaps whatwould I do? In today's world most people don't rationalize theiractions before doing them. This movie portraits what we unconsciouslythink about while consciously dismissing it. I really enjoyed thisfilm.
This movie is about the dilemmas that follow the temptation ofinfidelity in a modern middle-class setting. The actresses are fine andvery much attuned to their roles, the wife played by Keira Knightley, charming, easy-going but essentially scrupulous and the temptress EvaMendes, attractive, tiger-like but essentially cold-blooded andmanipulative. To those two women, two men correspond, who in a sensecomplement them. Sam Worthington, the husband plain, common and finallyprone to temptation and Guillaume Cannet, flamboyant, charming andlecherous. Knightley and Worthington are decent middle-class peopledriven to temptation by the sinners Mendes and Cannet. It is a modern morality tale, ending in remorse and return to thefamily hearth. In that sense it is a rather conservative rendering ofthe topic. The depiction of New York and Philadelphia is striving forthe general view not detail, and in that sense it is an averageportrayal of big metropolitan centres in the U.S.There is a lot of talking but this is how civilised people sin. Theyneed to theorize in order to talk away their scruples. It is a realistnot naturalist movie. There is a couple of supporting characters, who are very light and easygoing and seem to be the model of a more bohemian lifestyle, comparedto the protagonists. Anyhow the protagonists are very much burdened bythe momentary infidelity, as all people who follow middle-classmorality, to quote Alfred Doolitle from "My Fair Lady" do.Also the way, they pay attention to detail and try to find meanings andmetaphors in gestures and movements of every-day life, is veryrealistic manifesting the obsessive tendencies of a lot of educatedpeople.Recommended.
Luxurious settings, a frigid urban scenery, the periphery ofprofessional assignations, and an immoderate presentation of liquoramong other paratactic devices offer us a leisurely approach woven withthoughtful even if sometimes almost ill-timed reflections on mattersthat matter and are confounded when people in amorous affairs meet anddo not meet sentiments collapsed into trust and the question of lust. This is a movie that works also as a muted - if there was ever one -vehicle for Knightley: she occupies a lot of takes that signal, if notsignify, something of her uneasy beauty (notice how uneasy she is whenshe laughs, otherwise that may pass for a frivolous approach to herrole, but, though this is admittedly far-fetched, she reminded me ofShakespeare's Cleopatra who "can play herself, rather than be herself",in a critic's words, and we may mistake her frivolous uneasiness, as itappears here and there, to call it that, so in the end we may take itfor a less than marvelous performance: she - though confounded -maintains her enigma, as the last shot exemplifies).Of course she needs Worthington's worthy performance (to continue inthe Shakespeherian vein, he would give a perfect fallen Anthony Ithink; his excursion into the Australian Macbeth and then into his twowar-movie roles, to call them that, as Everyman, contrasted with therough-hewn and vulnerable performance - have we witnessed such a boyishabandon, only to resume justly right afterwards, the morning after heconsummates his night with his new female colleague, in thepillow-scene? - makes him an under-appreciated actor). There may be some oddities of time-and-dialogue coordination, if theyare that, that seem to prolong the effect of amorous misgivings' impactbetween two, or the quartet of people involved. But even if thewriter-and-director of this film is a new-comer, so that we may detectflaws, the earnestness of editing is just in giving us the confusedfeeling if what we witness is a remembrance or a (failed) repetition,as that scene in the elevator between Canet and Knightley lingeringlyportrays. This may pass for affectation, repression in its handling, but it is the right amount of what we have to witness, of what we haveto be shown - is it our own?- the economy of failed, enacted pathos. There are so many details to be appreciated, appreciated, that is, inits almost 19th century sense of the word: Mendes' straightforwardretraction from her "night" that may characterize her as calculating -but that would mistake her sorrow, Knightley's trembling lips in afractioned close-up towards the end, Canet's friend's supporting role(though one may wish his companion's more active participation), thequasi-80's sense of romance (watch that emblematic New York dawn), howWorthington's and Knightley's accents accentuate an immigrant sense ofclass-numb, quasi-repressed privilege.I wonder if one could say this film is not about rehearsing luxury andhow this is crossed with feelings, even though it may partake of luxuryitself; but this does not wound aesthetically the film, I think. I likethe phrase of the late psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan, "to talk is tosex", sex in the sense of sexual position, where one talks from, notthe act itself, that is the way, say, Bergman exemplifies it in"Persona", in that scene where narration is - and does not substitute -sex; that is part of collapsing doubt (into) trust and lust. It's whatKnightley admits, saying goodbye to Canet, "What I wouldn't give tohave tired of you".But our luxury is never a luxury out of time. Comparisons are made with"Eyes Wide Shut". But where Kidman, the woman, says directly the coupleshould have sex, Knightley is in the brink of talking. No oneguarantees she is going to talk about last night, and that is an act oflove, coming from the film.
This is a beautifully constructed and well scripted film that exploresthe dilemmas in marriage, commitment and infidelity. The plot revolvesaround a successful middle class couple Jo & Michael (Knightley andWorthington), who are in the early years of marriage and living acomfortable life in New York City. As the story unfolds we are taken ona journey which touches on suspicion, jealously, sincerity andultimately betrayal. The message offered in this film can beinterpreted however you wish. There are number of issues addressed thathave ambiguous meaning and could be construed in a broad manner ofways, i guess that is one of the reasons that this film will appeal tomany different people and institute some heated debate.A number of ethical and moralistic questions are raised throughout theplot. In essence this is an everyday story of personal dilemmas, inviting the viewer to draw his/her own conclusions. Jo & Michael areforced to spend an evening apart, Michael goes to a work conference inPhiladelphia with Laura (Mendes), and while he is away Jo bumps intoher old flame Alex, who is on a one night visit from France. Alex'sannoying grin becomes troublesome to the viewer after the first fiveminutes. The viewer is initially led to believe that the story will evolve in apredictable fashion. Michael will go to Philadelphia and sleep withLaura, and faithful wife Jo will remain in New York and be portrayed asthe victim. With the introduction of Alex, however, we are led tobelieve that the twist will be that Michael will overcome thetemptation to eat the fruit of another woman, and that instead Jo willbe the perpetrator of disloyalty. Alex and Jo meet in the street andarrange to meet later that day with Jo obviously encapsulated by theirsudden and unexpected renaissance. As the plot evolves it becomes clear that temptation exists for bothparties, but the polarity of circumstances is startlingly different. Both Jo & Michael cheat, but to varying degrees of complexity. Thesignificance of Alex and the subsequent emotional bond that isestablished between him and Jo creates a stiff but equally terriblecomparison to Michael's situation. Michael is sorely tempted by Laura'sadvances and inevitably he falls head first into a pit of debauchery, sleeping with her after some fun and frolics in the hotel swimmingpool.Michael is unfaithful, based on his physical relations with Laura thatnight, but Jo is seen to have fallen head over heels in love with Alex, but manages to keep her knickers on long enough to avoid a catastrophicfall into the same pit of debauchery. One could be forgiven forquestioning which is worse. On the one hand Michael has committed theultimate betrayal, albeit based purely on physical attraction. But onthe other, Jo has fallen back in love with an old flame and emotionallycheated on Michael although nothing physical happened beyond a bit ofdeep throat kissing French style. The viewer is offered the opportunityto draw your own conclusions on who is worse, and the moral questionremains as to whether either should have happened at all.The film ends in a disappointing crescendo of question marks. Michaelreturns home early due to his huge guilt at having cheated on Jo. Jo isless than enthusiastic about his return and her demeanour and commentslead you to believe that she has realised that she doesn't love Michaeland that her love is actually with Alex. Michael notices her discardedposh going out shoes on the floor, and steps back to take a look at herface, still plastered with pretty make up from the night before. Hispuzzled look is typical of his whole performance and can becomprehended however you wish, then the film ends, just like that withno warning and too many questions still unanswered. This is an entertaining film which makes your mind work. There are somany different interpretations that practically everyone that watchesit will have their own opinions on the thought processes and decisionsthat go through each character. If you like a film that can spark somedebate amongst your friends then this is a good film for you.
the love between Joanna & Alex is so great, so wonderful, so pitythey're not ending back together.... i can empathize with J & A... bothKeira and Guillaume played a phenomenal role, faithfully displaying agreat big love!!! can't say that I liked Keira movies, but now I havecompletely changed the opinion completely.... and I watched for thefirst time an actor Guillaume Canet, he's great! does anyone knows isthere will be Last Night part II? Juast one more - does anyone know whodesigned a dress that Joanna's wearing at the dinner with Alex andfriend??? so beautiful dress, silk dark blue... bye Very interestingstory about a sophisticated young couple enduring seven years ofmatrimony, call the bustling streets of Manhattan home. It appears theReeds have it all with a spacious apartment, fancy outfits andsuccessful careers. Husband Michael is a commercial real estatedeveloper, who often attends business trips while Joanna works fromhome as a freelancer. The Reeds are the epitome of perfection or so itseems. After attending a company party, questions are raised regardingMichael's loyalty. Joanna noticed a few rather friendly exchanges weremade between her husband and a striking co-worker, Laura (Eva Mendes),whom Michael has failed to bring up before. Following a fit of doubtand jealousy from his wife, Michael leaves on yet another business tripto Philadelphia with Laura. Putting her suspicions to rest, Joannaencounters her ex-lover Alex (Guillaume Canet), who she never mentionedto Michael before, outside a coffee shop. Is it fate or just acoincidence that on the day Michael leaves town, Joanna's old beauresurfaces? Left to face her own temptation, Joanna parades around thecity with Alex, attending a dinner party, a romantic roof top view andhis hotel room before he leaves for Paris in the morning. As Joannaflirts with her alluring past, Michael is playing with fire in Phillywhen things get a little too hot for him to handle. The cast did anexcellent job at portraying their characters. I watched this movieseveral times and will do again, cause every time I see something, somegood detail that I haven't seen before...
Choices of temptation sneak their way into old loves, new loves andcurrent loves. "Last Night" is a relationship drama where one nightopens up questions and possibilities of infidelity for one marriedcouple. The couple is Joanna (Keira Knightley) and Michael (SamWorthington) and they are certainly beautiful and eye-catching buttheir relationship is not as well-defined as I think it should havebeen. It follows a very simplistic storyline and it tests not only the maincouple's loyalty to each other but also our loyalty to them as at leastone of the temptations they face is far more interesting than either ofthem. I have fallen in love with French actor Guillaume Canet as theex-boyfriend Alex. Looks aside, he was the only one who had any depthto make him more appealing. While some of the other casting, like EvaMendes as the other woman, just seemed lazy.I don't fault "Last Night" for picking a story that has been donebefore as they did try showing it in their own way. It was abeautifully realized film, performed well, and engaging enough, but itwas just missing something. I think I liked it, but I needed moresubstance, more intrigue, and more of a resolution.Follow my blog Napierslogs' Movie Expositions athttp://napierslogs.blogspot.com
-----------------may contain spoilers----------------------------i didn't think i would actually like this movie. really, i had noexpectations for it as Sam Worthington is the lead actor......but keiradid such a beautiful job and the whole movie just flows like a tranquilpiece of music. some may think i overrated this movie, but thestoryline is just so close to the real world that a lot of ppl wouldprobably be able to relate to, and find themselves stuck in the sameholes like our two leading characters (thus the high score, for keepingit real) i couldn't stop thinking about the movie after i came home. Istarted to think about relationships, and started to think about whatcounts as cheating. physically? mentally? or both? have i ever cheated?has my husband ever cheated? would we ever cheat? questions haunt me(in a good, get-you-think-things-clearly kind of way), and that's why ienjoy this movie so much. it's wasn't something that you laugh for 90minutes then back to your everyday life. It's something that isworthwhile to actually "think" about.------spoilers! the following is the PLOT!--------------------------keira and Sam plays a married couple, both in the middle of anabout-to-be affair sort of thing. Sam is very attracted to hisco-worker, Eva mendes, and goes on a business trip with her. and Evatried in every way to seduce him, no matter how many times Sam said no,he's married, blah blah blah. eventually Sam gave in and they slepttogether, but the next morning he regrets it so bad and went straighthome to see keira, without giving an important presentation.keira knows something might be going on between Sam and Eva and threw afit when she knew Sam and Eva are going away on a business trip. butthen Sam comforts her and she calms down. the next day keira ran intoan old ex-bf sort of person, Guillaume Canet (which i think looks a lotlike Patrick Dempsey!), and they were reconnected. Throughout the daythey had lots of fun and remembered all the good time they had in thepast. it's clearly that they still have strong feelings for each other.they kissed, but they didn't sleep together (altho i can see they bothREALLY want to, but keira said if she did, she would never be able toface her husband again). then Guillaume has to leave U.S. and go backto Europe. the two had an emotional farewell.the next day, keira sat next to the window, crying as she smokes acigarette in the most beautiful way that i have ever seen (not thatsmoking is encouraged). Sam came home early, keira was shocked. Samthought keira was crying for him, but she is actually crying overGuillaume.keira walks toward Sam, without any emotion but tears in her eyes. Samhugs her and told her he loves her. keira just stood there, in deadsilence.
If you like watching hypocritical rich people in impossibly fancy New York apartments with glamorous jobs and equally glamorous looks do nothing in particular, then this is the movie for you.
My favorite part of this movie is the dialog. Although this moviecontains long dialog, however the dialog is very interesting. Manymovie with long dialog but Last Night is the best. Not a boring dialog.Especially when Joanna and Michael had a fight after party, aboutJoanna accusing Michael like Eva Mendez's character. Another great longdialog is when Alex and Joanna was sitting in the sofa and drinkingMartini. Through the dialog, audience know about their life story. Soaudience isn't confused. Great choice of the character. Keira and Michael make a good pair. One of my favorite movie to watch over and over again
"And I think I'd still be here, attracted to you."Emotional affairs, physical affairs, is one any worse than the other? That's one of the questions raised in Last Night, a drama about acouple that faces temptations of different kinds on a night apart fromeach other. Michael (Sam Worthington) spends time in the company ofLaura (Eva Mendes), an incredibly sexy co-worker that he can't denyhaving an attraction to, even as he constantly reminds himself how muchhe loves his wife, Joanna (Keira Knightley). Joanna bumps into Alex(Guillaume Canet), a man from her past that her husband knows nothingabout, and that she still has undeniably strong feelings for. The look of the movie is undeniably appealing, with beautiful peopleand beautiful cinematography. The night scenes set in New Yorkespecially stuck with me. As for the actual content of Last Night, it'spretty good, but not remarkable. The story is handled in a mature andreasonably realistic way, without portraying the characters tooshallowly or simply. If you're looking for a well-made adult romantic drama with some goodactors, you could do a lot worse than Last Night.Â
This film follows a married couple, who spend one night apart from eachother. Their ability to resist lust and temptation is tested."Last Night" is an engaging story of a couple who separately facestemptation. The pacing is slow, which enables the psychological statesof the characters to be depicted in detail. Through their expressionsand actions, we can see what the four of them want from each other andhow they feel about each other. It is not easy to portray feelings ofguilt, jealousy and emotional intimacy in such detail, but "Last Night"succeeds in doing so for all the four main characters."Last Night" is slow, but it is worth watching for the portrayal ofinteresting characters.
Last Night is a typical movie that my girlfriend would usually enjoy onour movie date on Fridays. Romance! Another chick flick I thought. Iwas actually in suspense from beginning to end. What's so great aboutthis movie is that fact that many of us could've empathized in any endof the spectrum. For a movie that took place in one day, it wasn't asobvious since each plot was meticulously thought of. In any givenmoment I'm expecting to guess the next scene, no cigar. What really gotme is the end. The writer left us in suspense. Okay are you going tosay something about the purple stilettos? I hope there's a part two. This definitely a couples movie. This movie definitely deserve a betterrating than what's given.
"Last Night" is a drama in its pure state. Wrapped around a couple whois married for 3 years, it discusses about basic pillars of marriageand its fundamental importance and effects once shattered. The couplewho values loyalty and Trust yet finds themselves in situations to bedisloyal lures up in lust and desires, at time becomes helplessalthough they are deeply in love with each other. Joanna Reed (Keira Knightley) is the wife who is a writer and a worksfreelance most of the time spends her time at home. Michael Reed (SamWorthington) is the husband who works in a construction contractcompany sometimes goes out of town for business purposes. They live ina decent apartment in the city and lives normal just like any othercouple with small arguments and moment of love. After attending to anoffice party Joanna notices that her husband is spending time with alady friend Laura who she was not aware earlier and suspects that hehas something else to do with her. After a mild argument Michael leavestown for a business trip with a team which involves Laura which makesJoanna quite uncomfortable. But for her amusement while she spends theday alone she meets her x boyfriend unexpectedly and decides to go outfor dinner with him. While Michael spends time Laura and finds himselfto be irresistibly charmed by her, Joanna spends the night with herpast love confused and feeling insecure. This movie is not unique. Or it does not have truly dramatic turns ortwist. But it flows smooth and calmly while giving the viewer ampletime to think the characters and most of the time guess what their nextmoves will be. More than just watching a story this is about looking into humans and the way they behave and emotions. If I say 'Last Night'is more about feelings than a story it will be quite correct. When itcomes to performances I quite admire everyone in the main roles. Keirais stunning with her looks and attitude throughout and Sam plays theconfused husband with skill. Marriage comes with thick boundaries with love and trust deeply cagedin it. Yet at times that strong boundary seems to be so thin andfragile when life becomes complicated and feelings are not just words.Maybe living with the guilt of not knowing the boundaries is thetoughest of all.read more at flickshout.blogspot.com
