Its strange but I enjoy it

Marmaduke is the adaptation to movies of the cartoon of the same name.The story is about a suburban family moves to a new neighborhood withtheir large yet lovable Great Dane, who has a tendency to wreak havocin his own oblivious way. Marmaduke is mainly intended for little kids,some adults may enjoy it others might feel light a living hell. Themovie has some funny moments and others are kinda foolish. The CGI tomake the animals talk are nothing out of this world but decent enough.The story is a little predictable. The cast of voices are the bestthing with Owen Wilson as Marmaduke, Fergie as Jezebel, KieferSutherland as Bosco and George Lopez as Carlos. We also have Lee Paceand Judy Greer as Phil and Debbie Winslow, Marmaduke's owners andWilliam H. Macy as Pace's boss. In conclusion, Kids will love Marmadukeand for one strange reason I enjoy it. So if you have children and avery big patience, take them to see this movie. If not well its yourchoice.

In a genre so choked with cynical films, this one was made with enough skill and heart to make its emotional payoffs believable and welcome.

Just the Absolute Best!!! A 5-star!!

MAMMALDUKE is a very entertaining and well acted feature. The qualityof camera-work is top-notch. The character design is outstanding -especially the turkey, hen and rooster (their scenes are BRILLIANT) -and, most of all, Rover himself. The backgrounds are beautiful and thelayouts are terrific. Honorable mention goes to the excellent 3D intro.The story, with its fine mix of comedy, adventure, and romance, can beenjoyed by a wide age range. Although thecity-slicker-among-country-bumpkins plot has been done before,MAMMALDUKE has enough of its own twists and charm to keep itentertaining. The lessons taught (take responsibility for youractions/think of others, not just of yourself) give the movie a solidtheme. Most scenes are very funny, however, FIREHOUSE DOG's humor wasneeded in a couple of scenes to keep things lively. The script alsoneeded some trimming here and there, as too much unnecessary dialoguetends to make some scenes drag. More of the storytelling could havebeen left to the talents of story artists and actors. In this case,action does speak louder than words..Being a movie that can be enjoyed over and over again, here's hopingMAMMALDUDE gets the respect it deserves and makes its DVD debut verysoon. It was an awesome movie. I have been desperately looking for thesuper cool film in DVD.Better than "Rock-a-doodle" or "All dogs go toheaven" This is great. No one else would take this masterpiece awayfrom kids. You must see it if you've seen it or not.It tells the story of a dog with his luck cut out for him. Envied byhis owner's boyfriend, Rover is sent up the Colorado River. Then he isfound by a couple of fishermen but escapes to a nearby farm where hefinds adventure, love, danger, and excitement. If you are a JoshHuthensom or a dalmation fan you need to get your paws on this movie!!.

what a stinker

We like family oriented movies at times. We love Under Dog, Cats and Dogs and ect. However, we were sorely disappointed with this movie. It looked funny and since I grew up reading the Marmaduke comic strip...it should have been funny. It had the voices of some rahter famous people including Keifer Sutherland, Sam Elliot, George Lopez and Owen Wilson. However, whoever chose Owen Wilson to voice Marmaduke must have been beat with the stupid stick. Wilson's voice is not "big" enough plus his flighty personality is not what one would get from a Great Dane. Scooby Doo had a more masculine voice and personality than Marmaduke. Also, Carlos (the fluffy cat voiced by George Lopez) was hardly in the movie?? I have the same problem with the "Chupadogra" character (Sam Elliot). The viewer gets one lecture from Chupadogra then that's it?? Plus, like other reviewers, why did the movie start and end with a fart joke?? Is that the movie's idea of coming full circle??? Scooby Doo had a fart joke in it and it was a rather long one but at least it was a bit different....this had the same fart joke.

good clean funny movie

i am not understanding why so many people are giving this a badrating.. when i downloaded i checked the film on here and when i seenthe rating at 1.7 i thought this has to be absolute rubbish and i wasjust going to throw it way.. then i checked the trailer and looked OKto me so i thought i would watch 10 minutes s of it and see if any good,, well i ended up watching the whole film .. i know this is aimed as akids film but i am 34 and thought this wasn't a bad film at all , infact i quiet enjoyed it, there is some funny bits in here ,, just hopeother people will read this before throwing it away , and not to go bythe ratings .. i am sure the kids will love this ,, so thats why i amgiving it a rating of 7,, i think this film, deserves it . i think somepeople were a bit unfair for the rating that they have give this film

Why the negativity on reviews? This hit was funny!

Yes the movie had some corny one liner jokes. But it was good humor,great for the family. I have read a lot of bad reviews. I saw thismovie last night and was laughing through almost the whole movie. Myonly complaint is the Mr. Wilson character because he was not a goodactor, but it was mostly about the dogs in the movie. So if you aredebating on not seeing this movie because of the Stuck Up snotty knowit all critics, just ignore. Go to see the funny movie it is worth it.My favorite character is the Chinese Crested, who has some HILARIOUSlines (one about the rain and wearing a bumble bee sweater. You have tosee this movie to know what I am talking about). I plan on taking myson to see this movie again this week!

Great video for young kids

Cute Enough for the kids on DVD

I took my 7 and almost 5 year old sons to see Marmaduke today. They have been looking forward to it since the first preview. While it held their attention for the most part and they laughed a few times, the [people] acting was bad and fairly painful to watch. There were a few cute moments but it shot and missed far more times than they actually got a good laugh over. It might be worth it to pick up for a bargain when it's on DVD because the kids might like to watch some of the silliness multiple times and find humor in things we were sick of the first time around, but definitely not worth the price of family admission to a movie theater.

this movie looks so cool and i think it has that song tik tok but i am not sure, but i do not like the lyrics, i just like the beat. but any way back to the movie i love the cover of the marmauke case!!!!! like i said the movie is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HORRIBLE MISCASTING and completely lacking cleverness!

Who was in charge of casting here! Owen Wilson as a Great Dane? I don't think so. Owen's voice simply doesn't have the weight of such a big animal and his personality is completely wrong. Surely they could find someone with a deeper voice who is also funny. Brad Garrett from "Everybody Loves Raymond" has a Marmaduke voice. I like Owen, just not in this movie. Oh, and when is the last time you thought of George Lopez as a fluffy, cuddly cat? Obviousy going for the counterintuitive choice was part of the strategy and it was a horrible miss. As for the comedy and story line, writing is sub-par even for the genre. The obligatory fart joke is there for a children's movie. Can't they think of anything else to make kids laugh besides farts and burps? I hate it when children's movies teach kids poor manners and dumb down the writing into oblivion. I seriously don't see how even kids or dog lovers and tolerate such stupidity. There is absolutely nothing inventive or amuzing about this movie. I realize that only a few rare fans will visit this site so most people reading this will disagree with me.

Cute Dane Movie

I remember reading the comic strip of Marmaduke when I was a kid. Hedidn't talk as I recall. But these days, most all of the animal moviesfeature them talking. This movie isn't as bad as I thought it would be.After reading reviews, I wasn't sure if I should see it or not. But mywife loves dog movies, so I took her to see it. It does have some funnymoments. I don't know if Owen Wilson's voice was the best choice, butyou get used to it. The movie generally reminded me of something youwould see Disney make. It is geared towards kids of course, but I thinksome adults will still like it too. If this doesn't do that well in thecinema, then I think it will be a hit on DVD or on demand. I haveactually seen worse movies than this one. But if you liked StuartLittle, Babe, and other talking animal movies, then I think you willlike Marmaduke as well. It is harmless, fun entertainment. And it iscute. My wife loved it.

Great movie!

I purchased this for my 5 year old daughter, who insisted santa bring this to her, and she has watched it at least once each weekend since. It's a really cute movie and well worth the investment to add to your movie collection!

Typical Animal Comedy, Recycled and Kinda Cheesy...

Talking-animal comedies, without the excitement of spy and action themes, tend to be recycled from each other, spinning off from Alvin & The Chipmunks, Garfield, and others. This one is no different, spinning off from a comic book strip and trying to sell the adult audience with the voice cast of Owen Wilson, George Lopez, Fergie, and many more. As the latest integration into this genre, it certainly has flaws, but there is some positive notice in the field as well.The film sees Marmaduke (Wilson) and his cat-friend Carlos (Lopez) moving to Los Angeles with their typical family after the dad gets a job for a pet food company. As usual, Marmaduke accidentally interrupts family business, because of his unusual size. Trying to fit in, is another story. However, he does make friends with as they call "outsiders", Mazie (Emma Stone), Giuseppe (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Raisin (Steve Coogan). However, Marmaduke gets constantly picked on by the higher dogs and develops a crush on the popular girl dog Jezebel (Fergie). Marmaduke then pretends to become a tough dog and wins a surfing contest, and after he's popular, he takes Jezebel on a date and throws a party at his house. However, his rival Bosco (Kiefer Sutherland), later finds out about Marmaduke's lie and exposes him. His temporary friends leave, and after the family comes home to the mess, he is locked outside. Saddened, the great dane runs away from home. The next day, Mazie finds him, but the cocker spaniel falls into a water main-break and Marmaduke comes to her rescue, and the dad comes to Marmaduke's rescue. The rescue was filmed on YouTube, and it causes the dad to get a major promotion. Marmaduke finally found his place in the world, and regained the friends he once temporarily had.There's plenty to like about this film. Important messages on friendship, truth, and being yourself appear frequently, and its' heart appears to be in the right place as well. However, there's also stuff to dislike. Marmaduke is designed very oddly, and at times is very annoying. There is quite a bunch of gross humor, and the story is very simple, making the film look a bit cheesy and people can tell it is recycled from films such as Alvin and the Chipmunks, Garfield, Scooby-Doo and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Altogether, if you're looking for a family movie, Marmaduke wouldn't be the ideal choice, but kids who like over-humorous animal comedies will definitely find this flick likable, but parents might be more on the annoying side.
