She was his pride, and I'm glad she was !

This is a great movie. While like most sequeals the animation isn't as good as the origials, their is a really good storyline and the acting by most of the characters is fantastic. The songs are really good{I love' love will find a way'}And Tina Turner performs her song well. Its not as funny as the original and this stops it from getting a 5 star rating from me. I like a really good, funny film. Anyway this is at near-classic status and is definetely worth a look!

What? Lion King sequel? I thought I rented The Little Mermaid.

Let's see... I'm thumbing through my plot summaries here... "The King'slittle girl disobeys him (much to the dismay of her bodyguards) and thefather and daughter learn to respect each other." Yep, that's what Irented.Entertaining, though. My kids liked the film, and I laughed at theappropriate places. The art quality was exactly what I expected to see on a direct-to-videorelease. Who was in charge of the shadow effects? They looked cheesy evenon my teeny TV set. The fire effects were impressive; had the entire filmbeen done by the fire team, I would have been greatly impressed with theart. But placed next to the coloring-book quality of the other scenery, these graphics looked overdone. This looked more like a practice run or a training exercise for the graphicsartists than a mega-selling video. Not a bad movie, but don't go out andbuy a DVD player to show this movie off to your friends.

Simba's pride became mine...

It's not a surprise that Disney made a sequel to it's most successfulmovie of all times and at least they waited four years after the firstfilms release. But why had this sequel to be directly tovideo-production?"Lion King II: Simba's Pride" isn't bad, but not great either. Orsaying, I liked this movie more first time I saw it, but notthereafter. Of course you can't always expect a sequel to surpassingthe first film and I'm not disappointed over "Simba's Pride". But thismovie has some flaws.SPOILER: The script is very thin, even the plot had potential. Timonand Pumbaa were great characters in the first movie, but now they'repretty annoying. I also miss more of Zazu in this film. While Zira is a interesting villain, cause she wants to get revenge ofSimba because of reasons that makes sense, if you comparing her toother Disney villains and although she's evil, you actually feel sorryfor her at last (I did). And why did the script-writers add unnecessarycharacters like Zira's other kids, Nuka and Vitani, who has nothing todo with the story? SPOILERS OVEROK, enough complaining. This movie has some enjoyable scenes and thesongs works, even they're not like the songs of the first movie (andthe song "Love Will Find a Way" is full of cliché's). The score is goodtoo. SPOILER: This movie has many cliché's and it contains references to"Pocahontas" (love between different races). Even "Simba's Pride" hassome highlights, watch rather "Lion King 1/2" - a much more funniermovie.

Disney as done it again, Simba's Pride is wonderful!!

I was shocked with how much I enjoyed this sequel. I especially thought that the voice talent was exceptional. The actress who did the young Kiara (Michelle Horn) captured the spirit of a rebellious young princess perfectly. My whole family has watched Simba's Pride over and over again.

Lion King 2 avoid like a swearing habit!

My dad rented this. I've only seen it once to realize it's not worth your time and energy fretting over. Watch Toy Story 2 instead it's funnier and has a noteworthy plot.

TLK2:SP is a excellent video!

Well, I am another Lion King fan and its not suprising that I would get the copy of the sequel once it is placed on the shelves!. The animation of the video was excellent with some kind of 'computer animation' ? ( I assume :) ) The plot is also another plus for a video release feature that most of us have never seen before! One point: It is good enough to be released on the silver screen!

Great movie!

I purchased the video for my son and he loves it so much, he watches it 3 times a day. I've always enjoyed Disney movies because they are simple and entertaining, so to all those critics who say that this movie is kind of juvenile, remember, it was intended for a younger audience. Get over yourselves.

It's almost as good as the original...

The one part I didn't like however, was the overly-long "Upendi" love-song scene. It was just too silly, long, and boring. Ugh. Other than that it's OK. It is somewhat dark, but that's just an observation, not a compliant. (They need half stars in the review rating system. 3 1/2)

Ultra Dude Spiffed Up

Not as good as the first one, but still a great film. I missed having a Hans Zimer score though, the music was just lame in part 2.

Lion King II

This is an excellent movie... I have a 2 1/2 year old and an 1 year old and my children watch it at least twice a day and I feel its much better than anything on TV

Disappointing, But Not Unbearable

The first "Lion King" has been my favorite movie since I saw it... Intheaters, when I was was four or five. I have never gotten bored of itin any aspect: the music, the characters, etc. Simba's Pride came outwhen I was about eight. I loved it to death at the time and even myparent's like the music. However, as I watch it again from a16-year-old perspective, TLK2 really does fall short. The songs remaingood, and I enjoyed the new the characters (especially Kovu X3). Ithink the plot had potential, but is somewhat cliché in that it ismodeled after the over-used "Romeo and Juliet" story. One thing that really bothers me, however, are the plot holes. Unlikeeveryone else, I don't care all too much about Zazu'a voice actor(although it would've been better if he stuck around...) however theinaccuracies, such as Kiara's design vs. the design of the cub at theend of TLK, peeve me. I also think they should have included at leastSOME music from the original, such as "This Land" for example, just tomake it plug into the first better. Also, the outsiders... Where were they in the first movie? Theyobviously had to be invented for the purpose of TLK2's plot, but Iwould've liked Simba to give some kind of explanation as to why theywere banished, or if there was a flashback to explain this with more -MUCH more - detail.I think that the plot's biggest flaw, however, is that it is forced todevelop too quickly. The first conflict between Zira and Simba is thebiggest mess-up. They should've taken at least TWO scenes to explainall of that stuff, or they should have slowed the pace a little.Over all, the characters are good, the songs are good, but it islacking in everything else. It is worth watching, especially if you area fan of the first, but is nothing to get over excited over.

Not very good

I remember being very exited when this first came up, but I was letdown. We are supposed to become gullible and believe that there is awhole nother pride of lionesses and lions that are heirs of Scar thatwere not in the first movie. Nor were they hinted to exist in the firstmovie. The plot is basically Romeo and Juliet instead of Hamlet (thefirst movie). This movie is now coming out as a Special Edition, butwhy? It's not a very good movie. The characters aren't like themselvesand do thiings they would never do in the first movie. The hues of thefur are way off, and the art cheap and shoddy. I don't recommend thismovie if you loved the first one, because you'll be very disappointed!

I found the music and plot lacking compared to the original

I found the muscial score lacking from the Lion King original but mydaughter of six years has already seen the movie enough times to know thelyrics to most of the songs. Another thing is that this plot seemed forcedin order to get a story line. I gave it a ten in spite of this because ofmy daughter's interest in the movie.

Excellent movie..... but long delivery time

The movie and the quality are great. I was disappointed in how long it took to get here. It took about 2 and 1/2 - 3 weeks! That's the longest we've had to wait for any internet purchase for any product. Explaining that "it will get here soon" to a 5 year old everyday is not fun either. I'm not sure why it took so long! I sent an e-mail message to the shipping provider and did not get a response back - but eventually received the movie.

Awful

The Lion King is a great film and the whole family was keen when Irented Simba's Pride. We thought this could match the first. But wewere wrong. The story was so predictable and instead of develop thefather-daughter concept the crew choose to develop the dull and typicalauthority father - rebel teen thing. Simba character was completelychanged. Nala's too. Simba was carefree, funny, spirited, gentle andwas changed into a mean and authority dictator who does not knowanything about love. Nala was strong, disobedient, loyal, provocativeand was changed into the typical quiet, calm mother who is blindlyloyal to her husband and doesn't say nothing at all. Her character isuseless in the film. Their love doesn't exist. Their daughter isstupid, spoiled and just cares about herself. Her love scenes with thatidiot are just a cheap copy of her parents beautiful and innocent lovescenes from the first film. The design and sets are so poor. Nala seemsto be wearing contacts and Simba turned fat and orange. Timon andPumbaa are not funny in this. Some actors had been replaced. Thesoundtrack is awful (Hans Zimmer is not in this) and the songs are justa copy of the ones from the previous film. And bad copy! (Elton and Timare missing too). The whole story is just a bad try to imitate thefirst one. There is a fire, a big fight at the end, a stampede, samedialog, same scenes, even Kiara saying "Ewwww gross!" to grubs justlike Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Some aspects aren't clarified and I hopethey don't make a follow-up to this with the stupid Kiara whodisrespects her own parents and don't has punishment. This film ispathetic and a way of stealing money from Disney fans pockets and justa waste of time. Disney should be ashamed.

Strange... *MILD SPOILERS*

*MILD SPOILERS* Ei$ner's famous for barfing out crap and LK2 is noexception, but in a truly strange way, it also happened to set Disneyhistory. It's groundbreaking, even. Now how many Disney films portray aprequel hero as a racist, or have an antagonistic adolescent die beforerepenting? Also, those flashbacks to the first film are kinda eerierather than lame. It's enough to not write this one off as completelyretarded and may actually be worth a few views. Miss the hyenas, though. And why doesn't Simba age? Scar aged, remember? In LK part 1,his nose was brown. In part 2 it was white. plot-5/10 (another kimbaripoff) anim-7.5/10 acting-8/10

Probably very good

But what the hell has happened to the 1st video 'The Lion King'? Its a mystery. I want to see that before the second one. The marketing here seems a bit obscure if its been taken off the shelves. Can anyone explain this to me?

(2012-05-17 05:33)

Great!!!

Simbas datgher makes friends with someone on the dark side, but Simba & the dark side are upset with it! Simba was so mad that when his dather's friend came he was exaled. At the end he finnaly liked his dathers friend. You will love this movie.

Ariel-28 (2012-05-16 03:56)

The film was quite exciting...

I was really surprised that Simba's child was a daughter, but itwas a very good choice from Disney, because if he had had ason, the battle between the Pridelands and Outlands lions wouldhave lasted forever. Especially the relationship between Simba andKiara is beautiful, just like a father-daughter-relationship shouldbe.Zira is quite a frightening character, just a classic type of areally cruel female figure.Yes, the film is worthy watching, but of course not equally wellas the original.
