Warehouse 13, great start but going downhill

I loved the show up until the point where the writers added the new"Claudia" character. It went from entertaining action / adventure tosilly comedy with some boring relationship garbage thrown in to make itless interesting.Season 1 was solid until the new character was added, now it's barelywatchable. Syfy should be ashamed, first they air the bore fest that isStargate Universe and now they go and ruin this show.If I was you, I'd watch season one and no more after that. The 3 maincharacters are great though, not annoying at all imo. But all the newfaces have just made it a mess.5/10 for being decent and poor quality at the same time.

What's not to like?

I disagree with the various posters who have said this isn't grown upenough for a more mature audience, I think it's pitched just aboutright. I just turned 30 and I'm enjoying every minute of it, and whynot? It's quirky, light, easy to watch and the actors all give fineperformances. Eddie Mclintock and Joanne Kelly make a greatpartnership, Saul Rubinek is, as always, brilliant, CCH Pounder has theright mix of gravitas and compassion and Allison Scagliotti as Claudiais electric to watch. With Roger Rees as McPherson providing a crediblevillain and Genelle Williams as the lovely Leena putting in a (for me)surprising twist, it all makes for some very entertaining TV.I've just finished watching the first season, and I personally can'twait for the second.

A Whiff of History

With spectacular special effects, worthy of the storyline, UniversalCable Productions with Universal Media Studios' ~UMS~, creators',Messrs. Jane Espenson, D. Brent Mote, "Warehouse 13" always leaves meeager for another helping of the next sparkling episode. The dose ofmystery, the misadventures of the youthful Claudia Donovan ~AllisonScagliotti~, the heroes lending their own expertise to solve each casetake us through various characters of American/ world history notunlike the movie "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" ~2004, directorJon Turteltaub, Walt Disney Pictures, Jerry Bruckheimer Films~, thusensuring every episode worthy of much discussion in a History classwith due note to the often satirical references. Definitely familyviewing well on it's way to cult status for fans, like me, of themagical "Twilight Zone" ~1959, creator Rod Serling, Cayuga-CBS,twilight? very nearly, the genius Claudia is a former patient of amental hospital, that says enough about the show, for new viewers~.Don't miss it!

Finally, some decent script writing...

I love this show. I think it is Saul Rubinek's best role yet. And heperforms it to perfection. The rivalry between Myka (Joanne Kelly) andPete (Eddie McClintock) is beginning to soften slightly and they arestarting to work together well. And you never know just where the nextepisode is going to take you. And because of the vast contents andcomplexity of the 'warehouse', there is plenty of ammunition for thewriters, not to mention things not in the warehouse that the castdoesn't know about yet. If the writers don't run out of ideas, thisshould be good for several seasons. At least I hope so. Too many goodshows are being canceled these days. Watch the pilot and a couple ofother episodes on SyFy and decide for yourself.

WH13 is a Steampunk delight!

When the show first started I wasn't especially impressed. Thecharacters of Pete and Myka seemed like awkward clones of the pair fromBones - minus a couple IQ points. Artie wasn't quite right yet, Leenabarely registered. Only Mrs. Frederic rang through clearly, but tooseldom. I quickly caught on that the archaic looking devices were meantto be steampunk (look it up if you are not familiar), reminiscent ofWild Wild West, but until Claudia joined the cast it was all steam - nopunk. With her addition to the cast it finally had the eccentric wildcard energy it needed, and has taken off. I just hope the fact that Ilike it doesn't prove the kiss of death ;-P

Recommend Season I

This review is from: Warehouse 13: Season One (DVD) Season 1 was particularly enjoyable to me because the basic premise of the show is different--involving historical artifacts--than a lot of the TV series I've seen. The woman boss is very intriguing and an excellent boon to "Warehouse" because she just flat out strikes terror in her underlings hearts so often, appears unexpectedly, and seems to be magical in her actions.Although the story line is fun and interesting, the various episodes became somewhat repetitive for me. However, I am still considering purchase of Season II as I'd like to see if the writers can continue to use the potential of introducing surprising elements without being repetitive the next go-round.

I good series

This review is from: Warehouse 13 Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video) I am about half way through the series and find it very interesting. I think the special effects are a bit cheesy, but enjoy the series.

Great show!

Can't believe I missed this when it was airing. The good thing about that, I was able to watch all of S01 in about a week! Highly recommend!

Entertaining

This review is from: Warehouse 13: Season One (DVD) I absolutely loved this series; the characters blend well together and have an awsome sense of humor. If you like to laugh and the sense of mystery you'll love this series.

Best on SyFi

This review is from: Warehouse 13: Season One (DVD) This was a most unexpected and refreshing show this past season and I just had to have it in our DVD library. I reminds me of Brisco County Jr. and other series full of interesting characters and strange plots. I truely love this series and hope it continues on the air for sometime to come. It is truely entertaining.

Awesome Introductory Season!

This review is from: Warehouse 13: Season One (DVD) "America's Attic" is quite amazing! The characters are intriguing and the plot lines are twisted enough to keep you on your toes but not loose you.

i loooove sci fi

This review is from: Warehouse 13: Season One (DVD) i'm hooked. this new series is wonderful. its funny, the cast plays well off of each other, and i just can't wait for season two to hit dvd. its not often that a series reels me in and keeps me hooked this way, and so many in the past have started strong but by episode four or five, your interest wanes. with Warehouse 13, each episode is fresh, the dynamic between the characters works great...its just a very entertaining show. i've even managed to hook my sister on it, and she's a complete snob when it comes to trying a new series.really hoping that it comes back for a third season. the end of season two leaves so much open...great job once again Sci-Fi channel :)

Fun show to watch for episode to episode

A fun show, just about the same pace and feel of Eureka with a bunch ofartifacts linked in together with magical powers (although they claimthat they are scientifically explained). It's just a fun show to watchfrom episode to episode and interesting concepts. They go offhistorical antiques and off of historical figures. The Warehouse has two main agents that go around and hunt downartifacts based on crimes and oddities that happens because of them. The relationship between the two agents are quite nice and sweet butnothing addicting. They are a lighter version of Bones and Boothe onBones.

Good show

This review is from: Warehouse 13: Season One (DVD) I don't want to get overly intellectual about this. The bottom line is that Warehouse is an entertaining show which keeps me interested and my mind engaged. Yes, Pete can be a bit of a bonehead, but he has other strengths which make him a good agent. Also, I agree that there doesn't have to be sexual charisma between Pete and Myka. A lot of people work together as partners and are purely professional or just platonic friends. I find it refreshing that they DON'T do the whole predictable "Moonlighting"/"XFiles" sexual tension thing. This is one of the two best shows on Syfy and I recommend it.

very fun and fast paced show.

This show moves along at a fast clip and features some inventive and fun storylines. The actors are all excellent and the premise is engaging. The series starts out with the usual two leads attracted to each other but arguing and that has wisely been less a feature of season 2. They don't need that tension and the characters are better off as friends. But here this series begins it journey and it has a few uneven moments but overall it's just alot of fun. The dvd set looks great and is worth adding to your collection. Sure this series has influences from past sci fi shows however this one also is a bit on the mystical side because many artifacts they hunt have 'powers'. Saul rubinek really adds alot of presence to the whole affair too. This show just keeps getting better and they do need to make more than just 13 eps a season. They have four lead characters to provide stories for and 20 eps could easily provide them with more adventures. I think the overall emphasis here is on entertainment and who cares what it's comparible too? I don't , I just enjoy this show. Just like I enjoy the great 'being human' on bbc america. (that's a plug) but wharehouse 13 leaves me with a smile every episode and it's not a dark show like battlestar gallactica ( loved both versions!) but I don't watch this for darkness, it's got humour and fun galore and likeable leads so it's well worth your time. This dvd set should have been out in blu ray. So should eureka which has had crossovers with this show.

Fun Concept plagued by mediocre execution

Two sexy Federal Agents dealing with the Paranormal? It seemsimpossible to not make the X-files comparison. With a few exceptions(that occurred well after the characters were established), the X-fileepisodes always played it straight. The show worked because it took itsmythology so seriously. Warehouse 13 tacts towards a light, humoroustake, perhaps for no other reason than to avoid a direct X-filescomparison.Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly play agents Lattimeer and Bering. They are both appealing characters and seemed to have the requisitechemistry to make this thing work. He is charming, bumbling andapparently has clairvoyant capabilities. She is hard-nosed and tryingto act tough and professional, despite inner self-doubts. Both actorsdid a good enough job with the characters.Saul Rubinek plays Artie Neilson, an absent-minded professor type whobumblingly overseas a hidden giant Warehouse filled with governmentneutralized paranormal objects. The two agents quickly seem to accepttheir fate, and don't much question the exotic sidegear he gives them,or the fact that they are quickly exposed to magical objects andmiraculous happenings. They head out on their first assignment, toneutralize and retrieve the dangerous magic items out there in thehands of the great unwashed. And this is where the show failed. Rubinek's clownish character, andthe retro futuristic magic gear (electric guns by Telsa, Cigarette tin2-way TV's) just seem contrived and cornball. Additionally, the 3rdrate special effects fall flat. Using comedic patter and light humorbetween the leads would be completely fine, but to have a level ofbuffoonery underlying the entire concept just gives the entire show asecond-rate feel about it.I really feel that had the show's creators said X-file comparisons bedamned, let's make this a serious show with paranormal elements, andhad they made special effects secondary (ala the gloomy X-files) theycould have had a great TV show. As it is, this lightweight show mayhave a run because of the leads, but it's far from a special show.
