From among the many replies they receive, they arrange a date with Jack and Louise Bauer, a young couple who seem similar to the Barnets. promising at the beginning, applies too simple moral message toward the end

Alain and Wendy's Barnet boredom in sexual life sexual is cured by oneand one only swinging experience, although they enjoyed it very much.It is hard to buy that sudden cure. On the other hand the other coupleis portrayed much too shallow and flat. They are yuppies, yet they actmore and more retarded towards the end of the film. We never find outwhat's their real motivation behind their action. Stephen Baldwinacting is great though. All in all the film is formalistic. Plot points are coming one afterthe other in their desperate attempts to shock the audience. It seemsthat their only reason is to make everything more interesting - trillerlike. The ending is very disappointing. Also the moral message of thestory is too simple. Either you are white or black. If you're black orjust a bit gray you'll pay the price.

Better than the usual, though that's not saying much

This movie demonstrates that Hollywood screenwriters really shouldn'tget the credit they think they deserve. An erotic thriller that's actually somewhat erotic, though not all thatthrilling, Zebra Lounge is about a married couple desperate torediscover their sexual spark. Alan (Cameron Daddo) and Wendy (BrandyLedford) still love each other, but no longer seem to have any intimateconnection. They've got two kids, Alan is stressed out at work andWendy...well, she doesn't really do anything so it's unclear what herproblem is supposed to be. Their joint difficulty is that Alan andWendy can't even force themselves to have sex. After Alan finds himselfin another woman's apartment almost boinking her, he and Wendy decidethey have to do something about it.That "something" turns out to be wife-swapping. They hook up with Jack(Stephen Baldwin) and Louise (Krsty Swanson), an experienced couple ofswingers. But while doing it once turns out to be enough to solve Alanand Wendy's sexual dysfunction, Jack and Louise want more. Theypressure and pester and cajole Alan and Wendy into continuing therelationship. Jack even starts showing up at Alan's work, helping himget in good with his boss. But after an Ecstasy-fueled romp in aswimming pool leads Wendy to have some sort of breakdown, Alan finallytries to end things. When Jack and Wendy move in next door and make itclear that nothing is over until they say it's over, Alan and Wendy areforced to consider drastic action. The sex scenes in Zebra Lounge are fairly provocative for this sort offilm, though it is weird that Brandy Ledford is the only one who getsnaked. I mean, Kirsty Swanson even has one more sex scene than Ledfordand she never takes her bra off. That had to be somewhat awkward on theset. You can understand the two bigger-name actors insisting theyremain clothed, but Ledford's fellow no-name actor Cameron Daddodoesn't show his ass either. Ledford is pretty and sexy and all that, but when only one person is nude at an orgy…it just looks odd. It's fairly standard to hear screenwriters complain about not gettingthe credit and attention they deserve for their work on a film.Watching Zebra Lounge makes those complaints ring hollow, because thescript has virtually nothing to do with what makes this low-budget,sex-and-violence flick a cut above the dozens and more of similar filmscranked out every year. It's not that this movie is poorly written, though the second half of it does start to show some very obviousflaws. It's just that there's nothing in the writing that'sparticularly good. The plot isn't all that complex or clever. Thedialog isn't memorable or striking in any respect. The themes andsituations of the story aren't noticeably interesting or involving. With this level of writing, Zebra Lounge could have easily been anothercrappy, direct-to-DVD project cluttering up the shelves of video storesacross the country. What saves it from that fate is some genuinely good acting and adirector who strikes just the right tone to make this kind of moviebetter than it should be. Ledford and Daddo are perfectly believably asa married couple trying to save their relationship. They seem like areal union, not two people who happen to be stuck together. They giveWendy and Alan a casual ease around each other, while showinglegitimate concern for their partner's emotions and state of mind. Evenwith the sex problem, Ledford and Daddo create the sort of relationshipon screen that everyone wants out of their marriage. They actually makeyou accept that Wendy and Alan are two normal people who turn towife-swapping because they just don't know what else to do to rekindletheir passion.Stephen Baldwin also does a fine job as Jack. He takes what could havebeen a very over-the-top, psycho stalker role and gives the characterreal human neediness. He doesn't let Jack become too menacing, tooquickly. For the first half of the film he's less a threat and morelike a person with no boundaries who's just very insistent on beingyour friend.Kari Skogland's direction matches the work of her cast. Not only doesthe movie look good and the story flow well, she creates a differenttone for this sort of thing. There's a light touch to every scene thatkeeps the film from every taking itself too seriously, yet it nevercompletely falls back into trashy melodrama. The awfulness of the two kids playing Wendy and Alan's childrenillustrate how much better Zebra Lounge is than this kind of movieusually is. They're terrible actors and they're so much worse thaneverything else in the movie, the contrast highlights the non-awfulnessof the rest of the film. This isn't a great film, to be sure, but it's a clear cut above most ofthe dreck in its genre.

Not bad, but not what I wanted to see.

Okay, first off, I'll admit it.. I rented this movie solely because Iwantedto see if Kristy Swanson would finally do a nude scene. Well, I don'twantto spoil it for anyone expecting the same, but I must (might save you somemoney). This sex thriller has lots of sex, but not the flesh. Swanson isscantly clad, but not nude. There's lots of flesh scenes, but it's mostlythighs, legs and stomachs. In fact, not a single breast shot was seen.Theonly nudity in this flick is an underwater butt shot which I think isBaldwin's.All that said, onto the actual review of the movie. I expected (wanted) anude Swanson and ended up with a decent B-movie erotic thriller. Thismovieproves that you can have suspense and eroticism, without the obligatorybreasts shot. Predictable at times, it still held my attention throughoutand wondering how the experimenting couple would finally be rid of theirnewpartners. For those debating whether or not to rent this movie, wait for it toappear(again) on cable, it will save you $3-$4. But when it does, be sure tocatch it because it ain't all that bad.

Kristy Swanson wasted

I watched this film because, well, I lust for Kristy. Ever since her cameodebut in Ferris Bueller, I've thought she combined sexiness andvulnerability in cool ways. Later roles, such as in The Phantom, added depthto her acting. I even liked her in the generally unpopular Buffy movie.Well, Kristy is still hot, and sleazes her way through this trasheffectively. Neither the rest of the cast or the plot deserves her. The movie is worsethan trash- its disgustingly amoral, violent, and sickeningly conventionallymoral all at once. What a muddle. I am pretty open minded, but this stupidmovie made me want to give my soul a shower.Brandy Ledford is so used up, she looks better with her clothes on. In fact, she looks sexy while dressed. Her sex scenes were sad. Steven Baldwin lookedstoned, half asleep and like he wasn't aware which movie he was in- think later Mickey Rourke. The actor cast as Brandy's hubby was wooden andunbelievable. I couldn't see why Brandy's character married him in the firstplace. Or why Kristy found him attractive.I voted 3 for this , but now wonder why- 1 for Kristy, but what otherredeeming features does it have? None. Rent Sliver instead.

not to be a spoiler but

not to be a spoiler but the movie blurb has it wrong; baldwin and swanson are not the innocents led astray, they are the 'other couple'.

bramsay55 (2012-05-19 19:06)

erotic thriller

I really liked this movie. Sure it was a TV movie in its day, but itwas quite a turn on. The women are attractive, and the men not badeither. I have heard people give reviews about the only people who'dwatch this are those who aren't old enough for x rated movies. Noteveryone is in to watching people jump in the sack with no story behindit, or close ups of swollen genitals. Men like porn and wonder why usladies don't. For me, it had a beginning, middle and end, and enougherotic material to get the mood happening. I recommend this to women towatch with their husbands, and I recommend it to men who cant finderotic material that their ladies enjoy! I don't recommend watchingthis with your parents, or your kids for that matter. Or with anyoneyou don't feel comfortable with sexually.

Bad Bad Bad

At first glance a steamy erotic movie starring Kristy Swanson doesn'treally sound all that bad but man was I wrong. Basically, your typicalestablished middle class couple has lost their flame and decide tospice it up with a little swinger action. Everything is great at firstand of course the swinger couple they meet (Baldwin and Swanson) turnsout to be a couple of grade-A psychos that wont go away. Now this isn'tthat bad of a plot to go on because it's a couple not just one personinvolved in the psychotically-in-love-with-you storyline. It's a bit ofa twist on an overused tale but not nearly enough to save this filmbecoming a one copy rental at your local blockbuster. So the final verdict on this movie is that it's just flat out bad. Theyobviously spent all their money on Baldwin and Swanson because all theother actors in this movie belong in college theatre. Regardless of thelow level acting skills none of the characters are believable anyway. The first married couple look too much like wholesome suburbanites andthe swingers look too much like well a sleazy swinger couple. That sortof thing. In all honesty this movie isn't even really worth reviewingthis in depth. In all probability the only reason anyone would watchthis movie is for the abundance of stale unrealistic sex scenes. Beinga guy myself I can assure you that they aren't even worth it.P.S All you Kristy Swanson fans hoping to maybe see a little somethingin this flick, you wont. She somehow manages to keep her clotheshalfway on through 3-4 sex scenes.

A Good Movie For 17 Year Old Geeks Who Are Too Young To Rent A XXX Movie!!

This is a very tedious movie with pretensions about being a soft core pornographic film which somehow turns into a Mystery/Thriller. In this sorry excuse for a movie Ms.Brandy Ledford's marriage has become somewhat stale so she and her husband decide to try "swinging" Gee. I thought Marriage Counselling would be a better option. So they get involved with a Sociopathic couple and then the stakes in the deadly game just keep on getting higher.I have always like Ms. Ledford and Ms. Swanson and why they agreed to appear in this trash is beyond my comprehension.I do give this movie 5 stars because no doubt every 17 year old Geek out there who can't get a date on Saturday night will LOVE this movie for the sex scenes alone. And I do mean "alone" as in by themselves with their hands on the remote control!!!

Take a dip ... the water is great

For any couple who has ever considered the potential disaster in "swinging", this is must viewing. The movie features--among Baldwin, two extremely sexy women (unfortunately, I can't recall their names), who genuinely seem to enjoy the experience. Unfortunately, it goes bad fast, and very nearly costs one family everything.Like most guys who rent these types of movies I wanted to see women getting together. The movie does this, and well. The build up was excellent, and the payoff reasonable for an R-rated film.True, I would have liked it to be unrated, and extended, but that's just me.I thoroughly enjoyed the tension between the couples, I enjoyed Baldwin's psychosis (I happen to believe he's not acting). In short, it was decent, and well worth a look.

Excellent movie with good plot, directing and acting

I noticed too many unjust reviews to this flick which compelled me tocomment. The movie is correctly performed and placed in Genre ofThriller and makes perfect sense when you view it with open minded eyesand fill the character's shoes. It is a low intensity thriller and Ifeel it works perfectly for this flick and found it very refreshing. The Bauers pursued their relations with the Barnets even afterrejection for several good reason such as the need to dominate, control, subdue, and conquer someones worthy of being lifelong intimatepartners. some of this is explained in the movie and the rest you mustextract from understanding the characters. The involvement of thechildren(but not too much)in the movie gave it depth. Yes, I wasdisappointed that Kristy didn't show more skin but get real. I waspleasantly surprised that she was as intimate as she was. Brandi didcome thru with some nice breast exposure and really shined in themovie. The movie wasn't porno but was still very spicy. There was onereal flaw, a scene in the Kitchen where Wendy Barnet(Brandi Ledford)wasemotionally over reacting/over acting, but it past quickly enough anddidn't ruin the movie. No movie is perfect and I have my rathers butoverall it was a good film and well worth seeing for open mindedpeople.

exellent

i watch this movie , very good movie in this categariey. kristy is so gooa and nice looking watch she's bobs

Very hot

This is about as close to soft Porn as cable comes. Brandy Ledford isexquisite as a brunette and by far one of the hottest MILFs on a TVscreen. The Pool scene alone makes this one to watch with Kristy inHigh heels doing the dogie paddle around the pool before Brandy joinsher. This is very erotic and a great mood setter. But you'd better hurrybecause after the elevator scene the movie loses all eroticism which isreplaced by terror, not a good switch.I would have preferred to see Brandy and Kristy make naked snow angelsfor the remainder of the flick.

Cheap Thrills....

Alan (Cameron Daddo) and Wendy Barnet (Brandy Ledford) are your normal, average couple who have succumbed to sexual boredom. One day, while visiting a sex shop, Alan buys a swingers' magazine. Of course, there is some initial hesitation, but eventually curiosity gets the best of them and they place an ad. They receive a response from a couple Jack (Stephen Baldwin) and Louise (Kristy Swanson) Bauer--who seem irresistibly charming and very good-looking. After a call from Alan, they decide to meet at a local bar, aptly titled the "Zebra Lounge". A few drinks, and Wendy is feeling a little hesistant. I mean is this really what she wants? Is this going to save their marriage? The plot is superficially thin and the acting is so-so. But you can see where this is heading, and that is part of the fun. So needless to say, the Barnet couple give in to temptation--and have a wild time with the Bauers. After satisfying their curiosity, the Barnets are ready to throw in the towel and call it quits. But the Bauers are not so ready to be tossed to the side!! They had plans on a long-term meaningful relationship! And that is where the PROBLEMS start! This movie is okay, especially if you want a cheap thrill, have nothing else to do, or feel like watching some soft-porn with plenty of simulated acts. Just be sure to put the kids to bed first.

Beware

This review is from: Zebra Lounge (DVD) We enjoyed this movie. But beware of the life-style of this movie. The ending will tell it all.

predictable version of "Fatal Attraction"

*Zebra Lounge* isn't that great of a movie that you wanna watch repeatedly and recommend to friends. However, it's not a total bore...it's just predictable. If you like predictability, then by all means, watch this movie.Alan and Wendy Barnet are bored with their marriage. Their sex lives are practically non-existent. They've even gone to the point of thinking about having affairs. Nonetheless, they're trying their hardest to save the marriage. One day, they happened to come across an adult novelty/leather store. Alan comes across a swingers magazine. He purchased a copy and they go home to review the magazine. Curious and hesitant, they decide to put in an ad for a "night of adventure" with another couple.Out of all the boxful of responses, the Barnets settled on Louise and Jack Bauer (Baldwin). They agree that the initial meeting should take place at Zebra Lounge, an upscale club. After a few moments of talk and drinks, the Barnets decide not to go through with it. However, Jack was able to persuade them to change their mind.Once the deed has been done, hell has begun for the Barnets. The Bauers have started to invade their personal lives. They've shown up at the Barnets' son's birthday party. Jack shows up at Alan's work. The Bauers even moved next door to the Barnets. This film is like blackmail galore. Every option for the Barnets' way out, the Bauers have something hanging over them. They basically have no choice but to have additional "adventures" with the Bauers. This is what the Bauers have wanted all along...a long term relationship.I gave this film 3 stars mainly because it was purely predictable.

No actual zebras, but plenty of (badly written) lounging

Caught this on cable last night (part of my self-inflicted doublefeature with the much-better Cellular), and needless to say, it startedoff promising but deteriorated far too quickly into spineless, unimaginative drivel, and not enough sex (steamy or otherwise) tojustify it. Found myself making a list in my head about what I neededto buy at the supermarket during the sex scenes, in fact, and duringthe other scenes, where the 2 virgin swingers find themselvesrelentlessly pursued by the deranged Baldwin brother and his lunaticwife (way to go, Kristy - you sure can pick 'em), I was going over mystrategy for a Neopets game in my head.

ritornello2003 (2012-04-29 16:38)

This is a great movie!!!!

The whole cast is just as good as any A list film. There are very tinyspoilers that you can't really notice as long as you aren't looking forthem. Stephen Baldwin is insanely fantastic! And Kristy Swanson is verygoodtoo.

More tired tales from the sex lives of the boring rich.

Fatal attraction for the swingers set. I am hard pressed to say anythingnice about this film. Dull, stiffly acted by characters that you don'treally care about. No sense of tension, terror or jeopardy seems todevelop. The soft-core porn scenes only marginally make the film watchable. Thedirector should have gone the whole way and dispensed with the story andfocused on the equally unlikely rompings of the characters.Life is too short to spend on trifles like this. Save yourself the time: Iwish I did.
